It was certainly a money-maker, grossing over $100 million last year, but Fahrenheit 911 will never be an Academy Award winner. Today, the Academy shut out the movie as it received zero nominations. Several months ago, there was heady talk about the movie scoring big at the Oscar’s; however, it will not even win one.

The reason is that Michael Moore was too arrogant to allow his movie to be considered among documentaries. Instead, he hoped his movie would have solid chances in the best picture category. Yet, with no nominations, Moore’s strategy completely backfired.

Moore won in 2003 for his documentary “Bowling for Columbine” and probably would have had a strong chance among documentaries again this year with his anti-Bush hit piece. Yet, Moore became too heady and was caught up in the Hollywood scene.

This is not the first time that Michael Moore believed his own press clippings. Last year, he thought his one “documentary” would change the outcome of the presidential race. By the way, a more accurate description of Fahrenheit 911 would be propaganda, instead of documentary. Nonetheless, he believed that his movie was so effective in trashing George W. Bush that millions of Americans would be persuaded to vote for John Kerry. However, Bush won with a much greater margin in this election than in 2000 and the Moore movie may have actually had the opposite effect of mobilizing Bush voters.

No doubt, Michael Moore is a talented man. He has an ability to make documentaries that are profitable and become events in themselves. Yet, Moore is not going to influence the American public the way he wants. Most people view him as a devout leftist who splashes his liberalism across the screen. He will always have a hard time connecting with the “red states” and rightly so. His philosophy is anathema to millions of Americans.

What is so surprising today is that in his own community, that shares his liberal views, Moore was completely shut out. It must be quite a blow to a rather inflated ego. (and a rather inflated FAT FUCKING ASS!")

The real shame is that the Passion was locked out too...wasn't it the biggest hit ever? Or almost biggest?
