Xenophobic is the wrong word.

Here are some more appropriate ones:
Racist, classless, tasteless, ignorant, cuntish, below the belt, and French-like.

This is what you get when you deal with ELITISTS that have no standing left in the world. Their true colors are starting to show. And some French thought they were a haven for oppressed blacks from America. Right.

People in the US of any race are generally better off than the French and it pisses them off so badly they can't see straight. Our poor are often better off than their middle class and they have more opportunity.

In the US, it's not race, it's education, it's not what family you were born to, it's your achievements. France is still stuck in their old backward patronizing ways.
