So far, there are two crappy entries:
Prediction entry by WilyB:
I predict this site will crash before Summer. 20K
This is too vague. You'd need to define crash (eg., unplanned server outage that lasts at least six hours, not a network outage). And even if it wasn't vague, it still fails the interesting event test.
Prediction entry by USA_uber_alles:
I predict this is the first prediction game ever submitted to mods approval
May 18, 2007, 6:00pm FF time
Well, Wily's entry beat yours, but neither were approved, so your prediction has already failed before it got out of the gate.
Lame, lame! Neither of these were approved.
Let's try for some quality for the inaugural launch! First person to come up with a good prediction that is approved will be absolutely famous!
Try picking a good sports game that will happen soon and will interest people. Or something political that is bound to happen. Remember that if no one takes the opposing side(s), the winners won't get any karma. So the event has to be somewhat controversial to work.
Also, you need to define the pro/con conditions rigorously if it's not immediately clear.

Four years ago when I stressed that mejicoons and beaners should be kicked out of the US, everyone made fun of my face.
When I posted that self-defence extends to the right to use lethal force when a home is trespassed, eveyone said I was wrong. But now it's a Law in Texas.
Next prediction? I must work on it!

Your Captain predict that Madame Ngo will
kick her son out of the house before summer.
I feel for the poor lady, it took us 35 years
to get rid of our sons!
Now, after a few short years, they all have
a wife, a job, a house and three cars in the parking.
MADAME!!!! Stop cooking with cheese!!!

Stop cooking with cheese!
December 17, 2006 7:23 AM
Here in Canada, the dairy farmers' association had been promoting
the buying of cheese and cooking with cheese, running a series
of reverse-psychology TV commercials.
www.cossette.com . . .
The most memorable part from the commercials, the crotchety
granny screaming "Can't get your kids to leave home?
Stop cooking with cheese!", had already gone viral,
as evidenced by these two fan-videos on youtube.
youtube.com . . .
But, alas, it looks like the Screaming Cheese Lady's days are
numbered. Canada's dairy farmers have halted their
"Stop cooking with cheese" advertising campaign
www.theglobeandmail.com . . .
after a wave of complaints about their latest TV ad.

blitz, he said in the referenced link that it would cost all your karma. Is that for creating a prediction, or buying into one?

I have a couple of questions:
- Can we add and view comments on those predictions threads?
Where do the predictions details appear?
Can we see who predicted what?
- About the deadline, if the prediction deadline matches with the event's date (787 rollout or Tour de France final stage) it will be possible to bet when the outcome is almost certain?

I posted a market for today's FA Cup final - the English equivalent of the Superbowl. Presumably, SimpleFrench has fallen asleep. If he doesn't OK it soon the game will be over.

The way I see it, this speculative karma market is going to kill all creativity on FF. Why bust your ass making photoshops when you can get easy karma over a bet, or when people won't have any ks left to rate you for a funny post?
