More hockey fans have been hurt by pucks than the ball in a football game. Thai would slant the poll in the NHL's favor.

Rugby is a tough game no doubt about it, but the fact is the hits are not as hard as hockey or football.

In 1968 Bill Masterton, a centerman of the Minnesota North Stars was checked between two Oakland Seal players, flipped by the check, landing on his head, died from massive head injuries. He's the only NHL player who has died playing the game.
There is now an award in the NHL called the Masterton Trophy for players who exhibit superb sportmanship (fewest penalty minutes)with great skill.
