Are to dumb to read a map? Your brothers have to go thru the Italian lines to reach the operational area. If they bribe someone, it will be the Wops.

I am sorry Poop, you are right. The Italians are safely tucked inside the UNIFIL deployment. No dangerous front lines for the little boys. Look at the map: they are behind the French! :D

Have you ever heard of Roger Trinquier ? I seriously doubt.

Trinquier is a major theorist in the style of warfare he called Modern Warfare, an "interlocking system of actions - political, economic, psychological, military - that aims at the overthrow of the established authority in a country and its replacement by another regime." (Modern Warfare, Ch. 2). He was critical of the traditional army's inability to adapt to this new warfare. These tactics included the use of small and mobile commando teams, torture, the setting-up of self-defense forces recruited in the local population, and their forced relocation in camps, as well as psychological and educational operations.

Perhaps his most original contribution was his study and application of terrorism and torture as it related to this Modern Warfare. He argued that it was immoral to treat terrorists as criminals, and to hold them criminally liable for their acts. In his view terrorists should be treated as soldiers, albeit with the qualification that while they may attack civilian targets and wear no uniform, they also must be tortured for the very specific purpose of betraying their organization. Trinquier's criteria for torture was that the terrorist was to be asked only questions that related to the organization of his movement, that the interrogators must know what to ask, and that once the information is obtained the torture must stop and the terrorist is then treated as any other prisoner of war. (See Chapter 4 of Modern Warfare).

The French army applied Trinquier's tactics during the Algerian War. In the short run these tactics resulted in a decisive victory in the Battle of Algiers [1]. These tactics were exposed by the press, which had little or no effect at the time, as they were generally regarded as a necessary evil. in the longer term the debate on the tactics used, particularly torture, would re-emerge in the French press for decades to come (with the trial of Paul Aussaresses)

The US Army showed a strong interest in his experiences and theories when preparing the counterinsurgency warfare by the US Green Berets in South Vietnam in the early 1960s and again in today's Iraq.

The alliance between Grey the law enforcememnt officer and Berlu the Calabresian criminal raises many questions indeed.

In March 2006, the national anti-Mafia prosecutor announced the discovery of a submarine in Colombia; it was being constructed on behalf of the 'Ndrangheta for smuggling cocaine. [37]

The 'Ndrangheta has recently expanded its activities to Northern Italy, mainly to sell drugs and to invest in legitimate businesses which can be used for money laundering. The mayor of Buccinasco was threatened when he tried to halt these investments; in May 2007 twenty members of 'Ndrangheta were arrested in Milan.

That is all well & fine. So why don't the Frog posters here understand that? I do. You do. Why don't they? WilyB's map indicates a "Maginot Line" type of thinking where the line on the map is The Front.

If the UN plan isn't working, why not blame the UN?

WilyB, you must have a problem with authority figures. Too many speeding tickets, or what? Chill, man.

French army is know to be a much better force than Italian army since in France to be an officer has prestige while in Italy, they have to take what is available.
US or British officers all recognize that french army is much better than Italians.
BWT we spend much more on training and for the whole army, we deploy abroad much more, we have some equipment Italy simply do not have(not only the nukes) and it matters somewhere.
General Jones supreme NATO commander in Europe have said that the French army is the best expeditionary force of Europe.
I think he is quite qualified.
