Yes, McDonald's is doing fine in France. So what the heck? Proudly claiming that the French are enthusiastically embracing the American culture is pathetic and pointless. We don't give a fuck whether McDonald's is Taiwanese, Zulu or American. Quite simply, some French enjoy eating in those restaurants because it's cheap.
Your junk food company is the only one affordable for the million of French students. For instance, Parisian students like myself can get a meal for a measly 5 € if they show their navigo pass (the metro season ticket for student residing in the Paris region). Oddly enough, McDonald's set up its restaurants where young people are - that is, near high schools and universities, malls and city centres.
