i think the frogs were brave to charge the squares at Waterloo, for starters, as cavalry alone rarely smashed squares
i think the groggies who faced the krauts 1914-17 were brave as they fought despite high casualties rec'd |

One of the problematic aspects of this site is that there may be people (mostly Americans) who actually believe this nonsense about French military achievements being non-existent.
I suspect this is due to the failures of the American public school system, which so often omits to provide a sound knowledge of history. Compared with many other counties, the French have always been fairly formidable, and 1870 and 1940 would be the exceptions rather than the rule.
Other countries too have had their ups and downs, but that's how it goes. |

Paratroopers on Dien Bien Phu, 1954. Battles of Stonne and Gembloux, Cadets de Saumur on the Loire 1940. Last fights in the Maginot Line bunkers AFTER the armistice. Charge de Reichshoffen in 1870. Camerone, 1863. Crimean war. Center of the French Army at Austerlitz. Assault on the Victory (120 guns vessel) by the crew of Le Redoutable (74 guns vessel) at Trafalgar. American war of independance... hmmm... Must I continue? |

If you can't show respect to other countries' troops who sacrificed their lives for their country, don't expect people to show respect to yours.
It would be very easy to mock US troops whose interventions those last 60 years have been mostly against barely armed 3rd world countries, and far from always successful. |

Oui, mais il est dans le mode ironique. Alors que Baltic est dans le mode "j'ai une petite bite et j'essaie d'en avoir une aussi grosse que les Français" |

lol...relax stinkies.
I know if we look past WWII, France had a grand military history. Hell, I bet I know it better than most of you.
I am just bored and trying to get you all riled up.
This is perhaps the third time I have posted this in the last 12 months.
It works every time.

It would be very tough for the French to mock US troops since they keep saving your country.

I'm new here, so if you keep posting this stuff you'll doubtless get a reaction - although isn't it rather infantile? Why not post some proper opinions to get a decent discussion? |

We have those too, quite often actually. But once in a while some good bashing is necessary to keep the stinkies on their toes.
Welcome aboard! |

I think he is pro-French. Why insult someone on your side? Also, if you don't like the quality of the discussion here, then perhaps you can explain your more than 10,000 posts? |

"some good bashing is necessary to keep the stinkies on their toes"
In my experience the French are generally the intellectual superiors of Americans (exceptions proving the rule!), so one would hope you have plenty of FACTUAL arguments at your grasp to refute French claims, and also to refute their counter-claims of American military inferiority.
I'll keep an eye out. |
