There is no such thing as the European Union as far as a competing entity in the Olympics; therefore, this prediction market is invalid and I am asking the venerable management staff of the site to have it removed at their earliest convenience.

I mean what the fuck, if athletes from a country like Spain or Great Britain or Latvia have enough pride to represent their own countries, why should they be amassed in some failed bureaucratic conglomerate from Brussels. If an athlete from Great Britain wins a medal, when the athlete stands on the podium to receive it, will the national anthem from Great Britain or the anthem from the European Union be played?

The eu is not a country and therefore does not have an Olympic team. Therefore this is not a valid prediction post.

Even one of your fellow stinkies agrees.

www.fuckfrance.com . . .

The eu is not a country and therefore does not have an Olympic team.

Great-Britain is not a country and yet has an Olympic team, but who said this was a "country" ranking anyway?

There's no official olympic country ranking as athletes compete individually to the games. This prediction is about a ranking just as unofficial as any other. Fell free to make a bet or not.

I am asking the venerable management staff of the site to have it removed at their earliest convenience.

Hehehe...
Are you so certain that the EU will top this ranking?
You know, even if it would have been the case for all previous summer and winter games, maybe this time China will!

Are you certifiably insane? On what grounds are you making the inaccurate assertions, that Great Britain is not a country? The country has a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. There is a nation on the other side of the Channel from France. You can read about it below, even if your state owned medias have kept it a secret from sheep like you, because it has bested France for more than a thousand years.

en.wikipedia.org . . .

Who will enter the most athletes in the 2008 Olympics?
China ?
European Union ?
USA ?
Other ?

Ha, the moron is comprehensively owned yet again. Such spectacular stupidity in one so young.

By the way, did France qualify for the Olympics...?

ROFLMKSAO

I think that UN will win. Or perhaps OTAN.

The OAS will reign supreme. Even without baseball.

Will NAFTA compete this year ?

The country has a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

Great Britain is not even a UN member, the UK is, a slightly different notion.
There's no UK team at the Olympics because Northern Irish athletes can compete with Ireland.

Not the point, anyway.
This prediction is about the medals tally of 3 clearly identified groups of athletes and will have a clear end.
Play, or don't play, but stop your pointless whining and bitching.

CHINA, of course, they organize the Games and will control the medical exams. The Olympic committee is composed of corrupt cronies who are ready to kiss any part of any chinaman's ass, as long as their bribe is fat and the chinese little girls are in their bed at night.
The Olympics is the worst TV-Show on the planet!

Growing up I used to love watching the Olympics. Not anymore. Far too many of the "competitions" now are of the junk sport variety. It's become a parity of itself and way too politicized.

This is yet another farcical and childish piece of moron bullshit.

The USA and China are identifiable countries and political entities, the EU is just a ridiculous concept.

Had the question been between the US, China and the 3rd option, EU & Other, it would have made a little more sense.

EU belongs in the irrelevant bracket, in other words. But we all know that.

And the moron's distinction between the UK and GB is hilarious. It has nothing to do with the UN, moron. The UK is political, like the US, GB is geographic, like the EU.

Retard.

The EU is not a country. The Euronals can't even agree on the size and shape of an electrical plug much less forming a nation.

Right. Two countries and... one union of twenty-seven independent states based on the European Communities and founded to enhance political, economic and social co-operation - formerly known as European Community (EC) or European Economic Community (EEC), status pending ratification of the Lisbon Treaty (barring any unforeseen adherence to democratic or constitutional principles of aforementioned member states) - not including Norway, Switzerland, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, or Serbia.

A classic match-up.

Other! (Ouganda)

What are you fretting about? The Chinese are going to swoop down on any available medal, they'll be doped to their eyes with untraceable substances and will proudly display to the world what a perfect little democracy they're running.

The USA and China are identifiable countries and political entities, the EU is just a ridiculous concept.
And one that Europeans don't seem to want and/or recognize either....as evidenced by their REPEATED rejections of the EU constitution and its bastard child the Lisbon Treaty.

I'm going to go ahead and say NOT france.

The EU represents 30? countries with each a team. The USA only gets one shoot, one team. If we get to field 50 teams we would even win more gold.

It has always been like that since the Berlin's games in the 30's.

BTW, according to some Texan or bible belt hillbillies, the federal state of USA is not their country too. Only an usurper.

I doubt there will be a Beijing Olympics in the trasditional sense.

The USA and Israel will respond to their own rhetoric before then regarding;-.

www.presstv.ir . . .

Something I said would be happening last year. Nice to see the US Navy catching up.

The US Navy last week vowed Iran would not be allowed to block the Persian Gulf waterway, which carries crude from the world's largest oil exporting region.

www.presstv.ir . . .

Iran has started to arm the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps artillery with state-of-the-art smart munitions and cluster shells.

Oil shock to come.

Two American warships as well as a Bahraini and a British vessel are partaking in the exercise, Reuters reported.

The statement comes days after the US Naval Forces Central Command said that the Pentagon is determined to keep the Strait of Hormuz open in case a war breaks out with Iran.

Thus no Olympics as all flights grounded around then.

Unless someone wakes the fuck up.

(it's like watching a potential train wreck in slo-mo)
