I mean what the fuck, if athletes from a country like Spain or Great Britain or Latvia have enough pride to represent their own countries, why should they be amassed in some failed bureaucratic conglomerate from Brussels.
It doesn't seem to bother them in the golf US vs EU Ryder Cup!
If an athlete from Great Britain wins a medal, when the athlete stands on the podium to receive it, will the national anthem from Great Britain or the anthem from the European Union be played?
In 1980 in Moscow, Western European athletes received their medals with the Olympic flag and anthem, it didn't seem to bother them either. They compete for themselves first.
This is yet another farcical and childish piece of moron bullshit.
No, it's a game, and a piece of prospective.
The USA and China are identifiable countries and political entities, the EU is just a ridiculous concept.
The EU is perfectly identifiable.
As for China, it's not so obvious if you take the cases of Taiwan and Hong-Kong into consideration. Same for the US and some of their possessions like Puerto-Rico that have their own team.
wiki.answers.com . . .
It has nothing to do with the UN, moron. The UK is political, like the US, GB is geographic, like the EU.
Thanks for making my point.
Olympic teams have nothing to do indeed with the UN.
Athletes from the UK (political) split into a GB team (geographical in your own words) and an Ireland team (Geographical again) that includes Ulster.
