I am going to entirely boycott the Beijing Olympics, no way I'm going to be part of that masquerade even as a distant spectator.

When the Olympic torch was carried up the summit of Everest, the chinese brought the army at base camp for a few weeks, searched climbing expeditions (the international ones climbing everest every spring) for such dangerous items as "free tibet" flags, they confiscated or restricted the use of equipment such as phones, radios, cameras etc, closed access to the summit or high altitude camps for weeks with a sniper or two to make sure. Journalists were of course (after being asked to reach the camp in less days than it takes to acclimate) either parked and kept in leash or expelled (like the BBC).

While the Chinese climbers were proudly climbing to the summit with the olympic torch(es) on "live" TV, the army was busy supressing riots in the valley by massacring protesters.

Nothing's changed. Fuck the Chinese.
