My server has one 80 watt Xeon 5410 quad, SAS drives, quad channel memory, blah blah. I bought a 6u xrackpro2 rack enclosure from gizmac ( www.xrackpro.com . . . ) a few weeks ago that eliminates most of the server's noise. Intel sells 50 watt Xeon quads now, fwiw. Shiiit.

Thank you sir. This chip is very stable and the memory as well. Memory is rated at 1333 but running now cleanly at 1600FSB.

I want to try to push for 3.8 but the heat is pushing the limits.

I think so starry. I just dropped with 1.375v to 1.350 and it's still stable as the rock of Gibralter. I think I am going to try for 1.275 and see. I saved 2c the first time I lowered.

If it doesn't clean up though, I think I am going to sand the contacts on the chip and heatsink, then re-apply the thermal compound.

I have an Nvidia 8800 and it's possible. Got alot of 120mm fans though.

I am running with the side off at the moment, since resetting CMOS is a common occurance tonight.

I am under 70c now, which from reading isn't terrible for a Quad under 100 percent load.

I was hoping to get closer to 60c under full load though.

Third core is weak. Can't take it with Air cooling. I might be able to push 3.65 or 3.7 but it's not worth it.

Going for stable now. Going to install Linux and see how that goes.

I have 5.9 across the board, except the disk access. I removed my RAID 0 stripe and put it in another machine.

Only 5.2 on disk access.

I have an ASUS p5k-c with water cooled CPU fan for low noise (what I need while watching movies on the projector). DDR3 is super fast memory, used in high end video cards.

I wouldn't worry about the graphics. I bought this 8800 only to play one game. Crysis. It cost $400.00. When I tried to play the game I was lucky to get 20 fps.. It's bullshit.

I game on my PS3 or Xbox now. I am not sticking $1000.00 every 4 months on video cards to try and play a game.

I asked about your memory/board because I am trying to get a better understanding on how this DDR3 works. I had the whole AMD setup down pat. But I am really tired of CMOS resets on this Intel board.
