Spin Spin Spin. :)

Or is anybody here seriously suggesting that most western Europeans are poorer than people in, say, Lousiana, Arkansas or Kentucky? Or even that the Irish are richer than Britons or Germans? Ludicrous!

Read the numbers and weep. :)

But I suppose the list gives American morons an opportunity to feel good about themselves, revelling in their ignorance. It's all rather pathetic.

Awww, do the facts hurt somebody precious widde feewings? Need a kleenex? :D

LOL! Interesting figures calculated by some blog. Perhaps not. I don't even bother to check their methods.

No. 1? In most important categories we're not even in the Top 10 anymore. Not even close.

The USA is "No. 1" in nothing but weaponry, consumer spending, debt, and delusion.

www.citypages.com . . .

Unfortunately, although it's nice to invent some high figures, others would like to see some results too. Or could it be possible that the rest get more results with less money?

LOL! Nice try at spin control. Not only do all the facts and figures show America is considerably wealthier than Yurpland, those of us who have seen both with our own eyes have long known this to be the case. Its only some desperate Yurps suffering from a massive case of Transatlantic Penis Envy who try to deny the obvious.

Old Joke. There are 2 kids. One's always happy the other always sad. For Xmas the parents decide to give the sad kid a whole room full of toys and the happy kid a room full of horseshit. They close the doors and come back an hour later. The sad kid is crying and when they ask him he says "I've already played with all the new toys and there aren't any more". When they go to the happy kid they find him having a great time laughing and smiling as he's wading through the shit tossing it in the air, etc. The parents are stunned and ask him why he's happy. He says "with this much horseshit there has to be a pony in here somewhere!!!"

You could look at a list that shows Yurp countries clearly way behind, yet somehow seem to be happy that a teensy tiny insignificant little tax haven like Luxembourg is high on the list. You were digging for the pony. :D

The figures at PPP are pretty close and Yurpland has half again America's population. Relatively the same size numerator divided by significantly larger denominator = small number.

I hope that helps. :D

Yes...but the poor peasants:

- Live longer

- They have 4 to 8 weeks of vacations per year

Ah, I was just coming to this. Let me add some more:

- Shorter working hours (most Europeans work between 1200-1400 annual work hours, Americans work almost 1800, I guess that should manifest itself as a higher income too? Well not always, many get paid below $5 per hour). We choose to work less and therefore we have more time to enjoy our salaries.

- It's common in Europe that women stay home (atleast as long as they're paid) when they have children, and it's all taken away from our GDP (per capita too, if some redneck moron didn't get it). US couples are usually neck deep in debt and both must work just to survive.

- It would be horror to have children in US, with zero paid weeks. Yea, sure, sounds fucking wealthy to me. US women deliver the baby, sleep few hours, and run while still bleeding and birth cord hanging between their legs, to their burger flipping jobs. Fucking 3rd world shit hole! If US was a horse, somebody would put her out of misery.

- Income inequality. You know District of Columbia and Washington is doing just fine on paper, thanks to members of congress etc etc... other rich people. But (un)fortunately, income inequality is much higher in US compared to Europe. It means, that while Bill Gates made some million dollars per hour... 100 000 Americans made less than $10. If we combine these burger flipping trashcan bums and one Bill Gates, we get average American.

- And finally here's my killer line/logic, which is so often used by Americans to measure their wealth against others, but I just reversed it: Americans don't have Saunas (luxery item), every Finn has (a necessity). Therefore, Finns are richer. :D

Dawa, what Michael wants to say is, that if/when Turkey joins the EU, Western European living standards will drop even further than in current EU-27. It could mean that you can't afford decent car anymore. :D

What he don't want to say is, that since EU is far richer than US (GDP vs GDP), we could actually build bigger and stronger military, bigger space program... just name it. We could outspent US anytime we wanted to. :D

THE only leave she needs IS a break from me and those two maniacs i call my sons / yeah ...Yeah...... YEAH :D we think shes pregnant again ,Shes late and she took two OTC tests.... both positive . She going to the doctor Thursday to confirm .
number 3 white American on zee way. EH I'm doing my part for western civilization :D
They have 4 to 8 weeks of vacations per year

Lazy bums they're like children they need a long summer vacations. and like the Spanish they make up medical conditions cause the little babies had to go back to work . euroPEONS are losers they never make it to adulthood. they are children trapped in adults bodies

8 weeks ?? I wouldn't know what to do with myself with 8 weeks vacation

If you’ve just got back from holidays and can’t settle into work again, you’re probably suffering from a case of the holiday blues. If it goes on for a few days, you may even have Post Holiday Syndrome.

Psychologists at the University of Granada in Spain have researched this condition, which they describe as a general feeling of discomfort on having to get back to work, with sufferers experiencing symptoms like tiredness, lack of appetite, muscle ache and anxiety.

awwwee poor babies GET BACK TO FUCKIN WORK YOU FUCKIN BUMS
What a bunch of ass wipes euroPEONS are

Since it's paid vacation, how about golfing, drinking beer on the sunny beach and watch topless babes passing by? I could do that entire 8 weeks, easily.

LOL! Typical delusional Yurp. The GDP's of Yurpland and America are close while Yurpland has half again as many people. Ergo-its standard of living is considerably lower than America's. I could add that Yurp countries have a higher national debt as a percentage of GDP, older populations with much larger unfunded mandates and deathbed demographics, but that would seem like picking on the poor retarded kid so I won't do that. :D

why do you talk all the time about demography ?
You are a nation of immigrants. So,you just need to open a little bit more the door and hop ,your demography increases.

Otherwise, what is the national debt of usa in % of gdp ?

I talk about demographics because it matters. I forget the guy's name but it was a French demographer in the 19th century who said "demographics is destiny". He was right. You want to be able to pay for social programs? Then you need to have enough kids to man the workforce to pay for it all. You want good economic growth? Then again, you need enough kids to work and generate wealth. You want to have strong military forces? You need lots of kids to become soldiers, sailors, airmen, etc. There is no example yet of a country that has experienced sustained economic growth combined with a declining population. More educated minds = more scientific discovery, more technological advances, etc. In the end, no matter what else you get right it doesn't matter much if you as a society hardly have any kids.

Americans don't consider that being happy, in good health, with a real family life and free time to enjoy it should be a goal in life.

Americans consider that they reached their goal in life as soon as they can offer a brighter SUV than their neighboor... that's all!
