Ex-assemblyman pushes plan to split California into two states (karma: 5)  en>fr fr>en

Let Ca. have it's own civil war. LOL

The revolution will begin in Visalia – and it will be led by a man named Maze.

As in Bill Maze, a termed-out Assembly member turned rebel who is pushing for California to split in two: the conservative interior as one state and the liberal coast as another.

He's serious.

"We're looking at establishing a breakaway state," he said, with a new government and a new capital. "We'd actually be creating a 51st state."

Maze is a conservative Republican who served Visalia in the Assembly until last year. He is tapping into the anger of farmers and others who say environmental rules and high taxes are sending the state into a tailspin.

"Citizens of our once 'Golden State' are frustrated and desperately concerned about the imposition of burdensome regulations, taxation, fees, fees and more fees, and bureaucratic intrusion into our daily lives and businesses," declares downsizeca.org, the movement's Web site.

Under Maze's plan, 13 coastal counties from Los Angeles to Marin would split from the remaining 45 counties, which the Web site calls "the new revitalized California." To promote the idea, Maze has established a nonprofit group called Citizens for Saving California Farming Industries.

The group is selling sponsorships that run from $1,000 to as much as $10,000 – for a "California Gold" level. So far, they've raised "a few thousand" dollars, Maze said.

Meanwhile, Maze is selling the plan up and down the state, appearing on television and radio shows. With enough money and momentum, he hopes to put the question before the state's voters. According to the U.S. Constitution, Congress and the state Legislature would have to sign off.

The odds are against the plan, for sure.

Californians have tried to parcel the state 27 times before, with most attempts never getting far off the ground, said former Republican Assemblyman Stan Statham, who made the last serious attempt in the early 1990s.

The most famous secession movement came in 1941, when several counties in Northern California and southern Oregon tried to form the State of Jefferson – until World War II intervened.

Statham, who represented the Redding area, got a bill passed in the Assembly in 1993 to bring a nonbinding question before voters to split the state in three. But the legislation died in the Senate.

He's still for it: "When you divide something that huge to manage into smaller parts, the problems go down in size."

But to others, "it appears on the surface to be too radical an idea," said Statham, who now heads the California Broadcasters Association. "It becomes too much of a fun thing – and it was only really good for talk show hosts."

Splitting California into two states is an idea whose time has come. Lacking any political clout, due in great measure to the wrongheaded One Man One Vote decision, rural California has been ignored and become the home of disenfranchised serfs. Bill Maze is the real deal and he should be supported.

There is a lot of support for this idea right now. The liberals and conservatives hate each others guts and a divorce would be the right cure.

Although I would rather see California split into 3 or 4 "Special Administration Districts" that would be for all practical purposes, self governing and independent states within a state.

There are more conservatives in Southern Cal than the populations of some states. Your views are simplistic and simply stupid.

This makes a LOT more sense than most plans that would've split the state north and south. Those would've ended up with 2 LIEberal states. The interior votes in the south couldn't defeat Los Angeles, the north would be outvoted by San FAGcisco.

But letting the retards on the coast hang on their own makes a lot of sense.

What is the point if the liberal coastal sections of California are going to be bailed out by US taxpayers anyway?

How the fuck would you like to get up every goddam day and confront a new set of enviromental regulations that are choking off your business, sky high costs for fuel and commodities because of more goddam regulations that put minerals off limits.

More fucking regulations that dictate what you can do to maintain your property or business cooked up by a bunch of fuckin freaks and fudgepackers.

Just take the strip from Los Angeles to the Bay Area as its own state. Keep inland NorCal and most of SoCal as the other state. I guarantee you you will have one blue state and one red state.

For the same reason the USA did not stay in Mexico
when it conquered it and occupied Mexico city,
the USA should return California to the Mexicans.

The US withdrew it's forces from Mexico City because
there was just too many worthless Mexicans down there
and there was no way to redeem the place.

So it is for California, too many
worthless Mexicans, commies and
faggots to be worth bothering with.

A good General know when it's time to retreat,
a good surgeon know when it's time to amputate,
so it's time to "saw off the western seaboard"
as Goldwater once famously remarked!

You don't have to tell me Nozzle. As of January first of this year the exhaust system in my Mustang is now illegal according to the fucksticks in Sacramento.

It was legal when I bought the car a year ago. It was legal when it was smogged to transfer ownership at that time. It was legal when the previous owner bought and installed it. Now I get to wait until I'm supposed to smog it again in December to find out how badly I've been fucked over.

The reason.....my car came from the factory with 4 catalytic converters and now has 2. The system was tested and signed off by the California Air Resources Board and given their stamp of approval to sell in the state over 10 years ago. The exhaust actually passes the smog test. But because the number of cats has changed it is now illegal.

Also, they made it illegal for do it yourselfers to bolt up any exhaust. Since I don't have a receipt from an ASE certified shop claiming they installed this system, (it literally bolts in with 8 bolts), it's now illegal.

I think it's time to start looking for a new job in either Nevada or Arizona.

If California were overrun with child-molesters - - would you act?
If it was totally unsafe for your children to ever be outside - - would you act?
If they said they are going to euthanize all people over 65 in California, regardless whether they are sick or not - - would you act?

I don't know if Californians would act. So far, their action score on a scale of 1 to 100 is about 3, for issues concerning traditional families, you know, moms and dads. California has the highest euthanasia rate in the Nation.

Split the State - - in half. Half in the ocean, and the other half in the ocean.

So Cal is the only part worth saving. The Orange County stretch between San Diego and LA is the most conservative and yes, American part of Cal (in spite of all the beaners).

A better idea would be to give the useless liberals in the northern part of the state to mexico as they are more like beaners than anyone else I know.

THE BEST IDEA is to renew the American ideology of manifest destiney and annex mexico now. We could make another 50 states out of it and it will be a whole new frontier for us that will sustain an economic boon for the next 50 years or more.

If we take mexico, we'd be talking about making california bigger, not smaller and then the beaners can all go where they belong to get jobs.

This would be a great idea ... one California that's under water, and one California we could give back to the Mexicabeaners.
