My neighbour has just bought that 1973 Dodge Charger SE (Jeez! That car is as old as me )
The condition is not really "neat", as the car needs a good bodywork, but the guy is a "coachbuilder"(?) (sorry, my English vocabulary reaches one of its limits on this one: you know, he's the guy who repairs your car when the wife "forgot" to brake ... ) and that's hence not a problem for him.
The chassis is in near perfect condition, and the engine... well...
It's a 360ci, runs fine, and I'm here to help, and for "upgrades"
So, here come the questions for experts:
Is this genuine? The cracks seem quite odd.
I've already discouraged him to buy flashy alloys, as the genuine ones are superb (and in EXCELLENT conditions) but he plans to get rid of those "stuff"...
The question being: are they genuine, or a tune?
Second question:
Do you have any (web) addresses where he could buy stuff for his car (sending the parts to France, of course )

(Which appears to be missing)
Dude that's like primer on the whole car...I wonder what the original paint job was...tell your friend to take a knife and scratch down...then go get a new paint job...

The car seems to be in factory condition (1973 Special Edition Charger), except that engine...360's started in 1974 not 73.
Whats the vin number...this will tell you where it was made and what was the engine. Also if you can...post a picture of the fender tag...I can decode most of it for you.

Yes, I'm a charger nut!
Xcuse my poor technical English, but what is a "fender tag"?

Its a square tag with building codes, on the fender near the window washer fluid bottle.

[edit]Any known "age" weaknesses to check?
The "cracks" (above the 2 screws that you have marked) you are talking about, are you sure thats not bondo (body filler) they put there? it looks strange. Hard to tell, is the vinyl top removed?
Heres a website.I have bought quiet a few parts from them.Probably the biggest company for muscle car parts
I'm not a super MOPAR fan but that model will not hold value as other models of the Charger. For instance, a 1965/66 Mustang is more valuable than the bigger 1967/68 are. The 1969/70 models are worth even less. As the cars got bigger and more (IMHO) uglier the value goes down. Point being is that the neighbor may not want to throw to much money and time at this one and get one where the payback will be better...who know even positive.
They have live chat - and can answer most questions regarding what you are looking for
Additionally, your best bet is to get a contact in the USA that has a good listing of "Junk yards" or "wreckers" ,... they will have used stock parts, particularly things like moldings, trims and "opera window" flanges,...
..this is interesting, muscle cars in europe. just wouldn't typically expect to see an old charger in france. but here is a link to a MOPAR club in france with blogs and lotsa links for parts and accesories from people with similar interests and closer to home. take some pictures of the restoration and keep us posted on the progress.
Yeah, its a shame it is not 72 or earlier. If I remember correctly 73 is when they started reducing the horsepower of the muscle cars. Still could be a nice ride though.

I think the best translation for "carrossier" is "body shop"
Looks like a heap of shit to me. That that thar front fender doesn't look right to me. The top line doesn't follow the flow of that "coke bottle" design I was familiar with back in about 1970. I think it is a bodged copy. Save the engine/transmission and scrap the rest.

C14 - December 14th, 1972.…Happy Birthday!
This is what the car was equipped with on December 14th, 1972 when it left the factory.
The engine is now a 360 according to the pictures…its been replaced with a more powerful engine…this was very common. The new CAFÉ standards which came into law in late 73 rang the death bell for many a muscle car. People still wanted the power…and Chrysler’s new 360 engine which first came out in 74 seemed to answer the peoples call.
Next...
Look under the back seat or even the seat back itself...look for the "Line Build Sheet". Every plant (except Lynch roads, sometimes) put them between the springs of the seat and the foam backing. If it there...remove it carefully! This is also the cars history...and it will increase the value of the car.
