Seriously folks... I just returned from the free world, I've to admit I was in a constant state of shock by obsity around me especially with kids (under 10) and it's getting worst and worst each year... So having you guys bragging in here about how proud you are to see some brands being so successful is quiet disturbing! The concept of fast food in the US is to fill up a belly for a cheap price, fortunately prices are still much higher outside the US which prevent further damages but junk food is targeting the same classes everywhere, middle and lower... I'm aware that we're in FF here but once again before lecturing the rest of the humanity of their eating habits, how about you take a good hard look at what's in your plates?? :? Seriously, it's terrible!! Growth hormones in all meats with a clear relation with cancer increase, not to mention genetically modified food (resisting pesticides)... the health bomb is tiking and you're jerking off on McDonald record sales?? :?

Why is Paris so GAY?

La Gay Pride ne vieillit pas
Par N.M
leJDD.fr

Global, I wouldn't worry about obesity. Its self correcting. Lard arses must find it difficult to mate (like a couple of whales at it, excepting whales have water supporting their bulk). Think of it as evolution in action. The lard arses will eventually die off. Fat bastards are stupid as well, so long term it improves the gene pool.

It's hardly surprising that MacDo has become so popular in france when you consider how awful french fast food is. French sandwiches are expensive and rubbish, usually consisting of half an inedible bloody baguette, a thin slice of gammon with a lump of plasticy gruyere cheese on it. That crap will set you back about 4 euros.

I ain't no big fan of macdo, truth be told I find them pretty digusting, but if I want something to eat in a hurry, macdo wins out. Plus, at least they make an effort with the appearance of their restaurants, inside and outside, which is quite unusual in france where most fast food places are in supermarkets that look more like giant sardine tins.

You misunderstand,... this isn't about "bragging" this is about calling "Bullshit" to your fellow idiot frogs that all lie about "never eating" at McDonalds, and the anti-American culture bullshit they spout.

To hear them,.. "it's "africans" that only eat at McDo's", yet when just one chain is making 3.35 Billion euro's a year, you know its a load of shit, either that, or you have a whole lot more "africans" then you do white french in your country.

Regarding obesity, my family lives in the North East region of the USA, we are considered middle or upper middle class by definition. My kid, as well as my nieces and nephews live typical US middle class lives, as do the majority of their friends. Picking my kid up from school or going to school events, it is a rare exception to see "obese" kids in our community.

That being said, I'm doing something that I rarely do, - posting a family picture (doctored of course to remove id) to illustrate a point, that NOT all American kids are "obese or overweight".

This photo was taken at a family gathering, these are my kids, niece, and nephews – absent from the photo are four other nephews, and three of my nieces.

NOT ONE is overweight or obese. Each is an athlete to some degree or another, the group of young men along the back row, are either in college on athletic scholarship, or are heading to college this year on athletic scholarships.

I’m not sure what communities in the USA you are seeing these “obese” kids in,… but it’s rare in our community.

McDonalds and fast food are not the cause of obesity,.. Lack of restraint, common sense and exercise are the reasons for it.
And you french will suffer the same issues, you're behind us, but on the same road, you're no different.

Wait and see.

It is perhaps rare in your communauty but stats don't lie and usa has the most obeses in the world. In europe, it is uk.

Yes,france gradually have more obeses than before. I think it is due to junk food, change of habits. For me,it is partly due to massive changes France knew these last 20 years( immigration but not only)

Anyway, like said Globalvillage, nothing to be proud either for you or for us.

It is not complicated to understand several stats.

Neither do quarterly sales figures. (3.35 billion euros per year)

I suppose the real issue here is French attitude. You see, these news articles aren’t posted in regards to the brits, or the germans, or Italians,.. but the french.

And the reason – it’s amusing, and the reason why it’s so amusing is because of your arrogance. You lecture others about food, GM crops, obesity, the “quality of food”, and then go ahead and gorge yourselves on the same shit that the rest of the world does,… but at a much faster rate.
It’s about your hypocrisy. Plain and simple.

That’s what makes it all so entertaining. :)

As usual the Yurps are behind America on the curve......but if the pattern holds, the Yurps will see mass obesity later than America but then expeirience much more of it than America. Its already well underway. The Germans have already become pretty fat as have the Spaniards and Italians. The frogs are gaining ground (and weight) at a furious pace. Just keep going the way you're going and within a decade or so you'll be fatter than Americans. It is inevitable. :D

sure.Living near paris, in 15 minutes, i find a macdo with my car. And it is not new.

About the definition of an obese. it is not someone who is big,it is someone so overweight that his health is in danger.

You see the difference ?

The passivity of american/english about this fact is stunning. No normal human being can accept to be a pig on legs ,excuse me for the expression.

Stupid statement Moby Dicktrough.Insensitive and politically incorrect. The obesity of most is not genetic.Merely bad diets.Protein costs so poor people fill up on carbs like bread and pasta. They develop insulin resistance because of this diet and eventually type 2 diabetes.Ultimately the cycle self perpetuates.

Hi Simplefripouille.I would say the obesity index correlates with the affluecy of the overall population. We are the richest nation in the world hence have the fattest people.A rich nation will have alot more gourmands than a poorer nation. They can afford to eat more.
A rich nation attracts the better restauranteurs also in the world... and the worst, too,of course,as they can make money here whereas maybe not in frogland or wopland as they salalries there are lower and people can't afford to eat out as much.
This applies to grocery jobbers and those all along the food supply chain from growers to retailers.
I would imagine there were alot more fat Romans than Celts and Gauls.C'est vrai.

Wrong. it is the less costly foods which make you fat. Proven many times.
