June auto sales: Chrysler
Associated Press, 07.01.09, 01:39 PM EDT
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. --
Chrysler Group LLC said Wednesday its June U.S. sales fell 42 percent amid weaker sales across almost its entire lineup, though the decline was smaller than in previous months.
Chrysler sales fell to 68,297 from 117,457 in June last year.
The automaker, which emerged from a two-month stay in bankruptcy court on June 1 with new owner Fiat Group SpA, continued to sustain weak sales during June. Every model except one, the Dodge Challenger, saw double-digit sales declines. Sales of the muscle car jumped 34 percent to 1,369 units.
Sales at the company's Jeep brand fell 38 percent to 16,608 while volumes at its Chrysler namesake brand tumbled 49 percent to 13,753 on weaker PT Cruiser and Town & Country minivan sales.
For the first six months of the year, Chrysler sales fell 46 percent to 471,197 from 867,826.

If I wasn't so fat I would buy a MazdaMX5 CC, to replace my second car. Trouble is, I would have trouble getting out of it! That's why I've ruled out a Caterham for sure. Oh, how I miss my Lotus 7 Series 2, driving to LeMans with my tent and kettle, and a couple of cases of beer on board: leaving a pissed off girlfriend at home. Today it would be wine, hence being a fat bastard. So, a 2010 Mustang would be my option. I had the '67 back then, but it wasn't the Shelby 350GT that my buddy had. That was the dog's bollocks! |

I had a '67 Mustang many years ago. Total rust bucket with straight pipes. Loud as hell!
Wish I had kept it. |

AMC/ Jeep/Chrysler/ Fiat
Can I have a dupe account, too?
I had an '88 Jeep with AMC keys. Sucker kept going until 2005. The important stuff kept going. The peripherals were failing. |

Well, the government solution to this problem is to cease production of the Challenger and replace it with a lawnmower type of car. |

Great for local commutes.
But....
I had the opportunity to drive a Prius on a 9 hour round trip several times. Nearly bruised my kidney's.
It is a rough ride. |

Well, if Obama rewards the UAW for their campaign contributions bribery with another 10 billion dollars US we don't have, I am sure sales will pick up. |

Its a foreign owned company, Italian just like it was when it was Daimler Chrysler. Your Obonga forked over 20 billion of your tax $ to a wop company. |

Fiat cannot take majority stake in Chrysler until the federal loans are paid off.

And the UAW was given that stake, illegally and criminally, ahead of secured debt holders by Obama, who was paid off in campaign contributions by the UAW and other unions.
Change we can believe in. |

I would say that majority ownership of assets would call it foreign owned. But whatever. You cant go around waving a US flag in your Challenger and call it a US car anymore. I love the car but its hardly American anymore.
Would you prefer Chrysler Communist Corporation? |

With its majority assets owned from an offshore company same as it was by Daimler. Its not a real Dodge, Grey. |

I read a recent comparo test of econoboxes. Prius came out near the bottom.
Why isn't there more talk of the turbo diesels that VW is using lately. I heard it gets hybrid-like mileage and generates good hp. |

I don't care... I have an '06 Ranger and an '05 Focus. Both are great cars. Since taxes and insurance are so high, I drive an '87 Suzuki Samurai (100% death trap, sucks off road, I still like it) or some communist union built Triumph piece of shit. Yep that's right, it's cheaper to drive a 40+ year old sports car than an Obango ride. Not planning on buying anything new ever again, especially from Government Motors. My own little personal non emission compliant tire fires! Fuck the EPA, and most personally, FUCK YOU BILL RITTER. I hope you're nub falls off and your boyfriend can truly fuck you like the bitch that you are! |

Whats your rear end gear ratio Grey? I thought the 2009 automatics had a 3.06 or something and the manuals had the 3.91s.....a true limited slip just like my 69' Swinger. If this is true the manual shift should horrify the auto. No way a 3.06 can compete with 391s......Back in the day a 4speed manual would churn out best times over an auto. Ronnie Sox proved that. |
