An email I received.

Found this poem by Maya Angelou and felt it appropriate to share.

Because I declare :

TODAY IS BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTERS DAY - TAG; YOU'RE IT!
I'm sending this to my BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTERS, and you are one of them!!!

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not shouting 'I'm clean living'
I'm whispering 'I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and
need His strength to carry on.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and
need God to clean my mess.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible but,
God believes I am worth it.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I still feel the sting of pain...
I have my share of heartaches,
so I call upon His name.

When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Edifying my sisters in Christ,

Love, Merri

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
That a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'

Funny you should identify yourself with this poem... Every one of your posts are in contradiction with it.

Hateful, self-righteous bitch. May you find the way of humility and repent.

Oh Blind Watchmaker

Oh blind watchmaker,
make me an instrument of Machiavellian social appeasement
Where there is hatred, let me sow an inhibiting instinct for self-preservation
Where there is injury, survival of the fittest
Where there is doubt, yet more doubt and skepticism
Where there is despair, wishful thinking of man-made hope in a meaningless world
Where there is darkness, science as a whistling in the dark
Where there is sadness, a utilitarian, pragmatic compromise

Hmmm, seems that poem struck a nerve, no heart to touch!

Resorting to personal attack rather than the post, tsk, tsk, tsk! :)

Let me see... it's perfectly acceptable for him to call me bitch and when I call him what he is, it isn't?

Nice logic, there! LOL! :D

The frunch know how to "value" their daughters when pimping them out to muzzies and Germans.

They know the value of their mothers at the glue factory.

They can prove the value of their fathers; its printed on the wanted poster.

Good stuff, Aunt Sam. I don't care if Hitler had written it...it expresses the Christian position perfectly as far as I can tell. I was first baptised as an adult (raised atheist), and thus I had some long preliminary discussions with the pastor of the Church I wanted to join. The first thing I asked was, "I can't be a Christian, I am not pure and righteous enough. In fact, I am a total shithead loser." He rightly reponded that the fact that I recognized that I was sinner was a huge step, and one of the foundational tenets of Christianity. That was a huge lightbulb going off in my head.

I think that a big problem people have with Christianity is that they don't understand that it is by definition a religion of SINNERS! I find it odd to call even the most backsliding Christian a hypocrite because the whole religion is founded on the concept of original sin. Of course, the Christian sinner is called to "sin no more" through Christ, but we are all works in progress, ya know? Of course, we call on people to live an upright life, even if we cannot always manage it ourselves. Doesn't make us hypocrits, but weak and human.
