In its ongoing push to be all things to all people, Amazon.com may open its first real store in Seattle, according to an online report.

Amazon will open the store in the next few months as a test, according to the report by Goodereader.com, which cites "Amazon sources close to the situation."

This project is a test to gauge the market and see if a chain of stores would be profitable. They intend on going with the small boutique route with the main emphasis on books from their growing line of Amazon Exclusives and selling their e-readers and tablets.

Amazon has used Seattle to test various concepts, including its Fresh food delivery service and lockers at which customers can have packages delivered.

The company already collects sales tax in Washington so Amazon won't have challenges there.

We'll have to see what strategies other retailers use to draw shoppers from Amazon's stores.
