sometimes you gotta laugh

As of late the Hells Angels have been making headlines for the streak violence that's left a few members dead in an intriguing feed among rival motorcycle gangs. Needless to say some Angels have not taken kindly to the recent press -- even we received some not-so-friendly notes from local Hells Angels unhappy with our coverage.

And while we wouldn't dare mess with a pissed-off Hells Angel, what we wouldn't mind watching is a stand off between the French and a member of the rough and tough motorcycle gang.

But it turns out, even the seemingly fearless French are shaking i their boots over the Hells Angels. According to New York blogger Copyranter, Herezie, a French ad agency, asked him to remove their ad for unbreakable glass frames that Copyranter had reposted. Apparently, the company realized that taunting the Hells Angels put their client in a precarious situation.

So the agency e-mailed Copyranter the following message this morning:

After several comments on blogs and in order to avoid any potential troubles with the Hell's Angels organization in the USA, Essilor USA is asking to withdraw the "Airwear lenses Unbreakable" print from blogs and websites. Please, it would be more than appreciated if you could do so.Thanks a lot for your understanding and your help.

Best regards,
Herezie agency

To which copyranter responded:

Dear Herezie,

No.

copyranter

Now, who are the real pussies?

So... The American local salesmen are afraid because of a funny French ad? That's it?

I wish the Red Rooster (an infamous biker bar from the past) was still open in my town. You'd last about ten minutes before they started playing kickball with your noggin, Caz! ;)

Nothing against bikers but Hell Angels like other biker gangs are heavily involved in drug and arms trafficking, extortion and prostitution, and killing eachother in the process... So Ghost, are you telling us that we should consider them role models? Not much to do with the early days but still the only way for veterans to feel back at home again. :?

I'm not saying Hell's Angels are role models, hell even they wouldn't admit to anything of the sort. All I said was that the Red Rooster was a great place to get your ass kicked if you got out of line. It was the type of place where bands needed to play behind chicken wire!

The one public service that they did do was to stop that murderous nigger (Meredith Hunter) from shooting Jagger and/or Richards at Altamont.

The angels were founded by war veterans suffering PTSD and used to the adrenaline rush of combat.

You frenchies wouldn't understand as you didn't participate in the war. Unless of course, you count fellating Germans and showing up at surrender ceremonies to take credit.

Nice Cinderella's tale ! I think I'm going to shear a tear...

Angels were founded by people who wanted to make money without getting their hands dirty. A bunch of fat lazy faggots ! I told you.

A lot of mouth for someone who'd cry like a baby at one look from a real Angel.
But then again, since a Hells Angel is in the top .001% of the nastiest guys in existence in France that equates to a hungover cashier at a Paris McDonald's.

I got trouble with Sicilian Mafiosis when I was living in the French Riviera.

I hardly get impressed.

Hell's Angels beating people with billiards sticks at Altamont during the Jefferson Airplane's set. Singer Marty Balin gets knocked out. Guitarist Paul Kantner 'thanks' the Angels for punching his singer in the face, who in turn, threaten Kantner. Grace Slick says "Let's not keep fuckin' up!" @ 5:41

What a circus! Too many hippies doing too much acid around too many violent bikers doing way too much crank.

I'd rather wear this badge (not that I have or never will be a member of the USMC) and get real respect than wear the 'colors' of a two bit criminal organization.

I appreciate your sentiment, however, I suspect US marines, upon discharge, or even as serving members have been in HA

Yes Alan I don't doubt it. But I know which uniform I'd rather wear.
