Brothers of Mexican fugitive tied to drug cartels have raised campaign cash for Obama.

The Houston Chronicle reported that "two American brothers of a Mexican casino magnate, who fled drug and fraud charges in the United States and has been seeking a pardon enabling him to return, have emerged as major fundraisers and donors for President Barack Obama's re-election campaign."

Juan Jose Rojas "Pepe" Cardona skipped bail in Iowa in 1994 and fled to Mexico, where he has been linked to the violence and corruption plaguing the country. Among other things, he has been involved in the assassination of a business rivals and bribing Mexican officials, and is accused of money laundering.

Enter his brothers Carlos Cardona and Alberto Rojas Cardona of Chicago, who raised cash for the Obama campaign and the DNC. The amount raised by Alberto reportedly places him in the upper tier of bundlers, according to a list released by the campaign. Both have given the maximum contribution allowed to the DNC, and other relatives have donated as well.

Coincidentally, Gordon Fischer, a lawyer and the former chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party, sought a pardon for Juan Jose Rojas Cardona from Iowa Gov. Chet Culver, a Democrat.

Although the Cardonas live in Chicago, they maintain ties to Pepe in Mexico. Alberto operates an ad agency that backs his brother's political candidates, and the restaurant that Pepe owns is actually registered to ALberto. Pepe is one of the largest figures in Mexico's casino trade, and reportedly has illegally funneled at last $5 million into Mexico's political campaigns.

On Monday, the Obama campaign announced that it was returning $200,000 in campaign contributions to the Cardona family, and that they were "surprised" to learn that the Cardonas were connected to Pepe.

Quid pro quo.

0bama gives taxpayer's money to buy guns to give to the murderous cartels and the murderous cartels give money to 0bama. Just a new kind of laundering scheme from the worlds smartest man in the history of the world.

I'm not sure exactly what it felt like in Germany in the 1930s but I bet it felt a lot like it feels now in the USA.

All par for the course. Chicago political mob unsurprisingly is tied to murderous drug cartels south of the border. This piece of shit has got to go in Novemeber. I don't see many encouraging signs though.

I know this sounds crazy and it would be under semi normal circumstances, but everything I read and observe lends me to beleive that DOJ has some kind of unwritten 'understanding' with the Sinalao Cartel.

Almost as if they would prefer one dominate Cartel as opposed to this free for all going on.

As noted above, that would also be the 'Chicago' way.

It should be very interesting to see the list of Obama's last-minute pardons before he leaves office.

I've talked to people that lived in Nazi Germany (as young adults obviously) there was a strong sense of pride over coming out of the depression and hope etc. Overall, according to them, life was dandy.

I think life in the USA today is starting to feel like it did in Russia after they had their revolution and it was clear that they had passed the point of no return. I actually wrote an lengthy paper during my undergrad about the mass suicides committed by disillusioned and embittered citizens who had high hopes for communism.
