Make it a real referendum and then see the result. 30% is hardly better than the turnout at a parish council election. I as a lifetime anti EU person would still vote to stay in the EU. The reason; virtually every other anti EU person that I've ever spoken to wants us to become an American vassal state. They don't call it that; they call it the anglosphere or some other fiction. The so called "special relationship"is laughable. At least in the EU we have some say over our country. As an American client we would have no say whatsoever, as Blair proved beyond all doubt.
If the traitors who would tie us to the apron strings of America had the guts to say that Britain should go it alone in the world, then I and millions of others would vote for us leaving the EU. But they won't, so we won't. What we could do is make the EU more to our liking. That we could do if we bothered to even try. The Eurosceptics want to tie us to America and the Europhiles want to tie us to the EU regardless of want it does to us.
And then of course we had the ultimate betrayal. Thatcher (it surprises no one that she is now senile); seeing what she did to Britain) A supposed Eurosceptic, who managed to give away 75% of our law making to Brussels, a 75% loss of our sovereignty, in exchange for a single market, that 20 years later, has still not come to fruition, but has cost us between 1 and 2 million jobs. Little wonder that people are sceptical of the Eurosceptics. Whenever they've had the chance, they've sold Britain down the river.
Myself, I'd love Britain to go it alone. But it's never going to happen in the real world, so I'll stick with the EU and vote for anyone who is willing to make the EU more democratic and accountable. |

She shouldn't of climbed into my pit, and grasped the toger. She wos already in there before I WOS. Anyway, I'm off to see The Weasel and Wendy next week, so I will give her a kiss from you. Pot Belly Pig love, eh! No, it happened in Middlesex. |
