Analia Bouter was 26 weeks pregnant when she went into premature delivery. The medical staff at Perrando Hospital in Resistencia, in Argentina's northern Chaco province, told her the infant had no vital signs and sent the grief-stricken parents home with a death certificate.

12 hours later, Analia and her husband went to the morgue to pray for the baby. When the attendant opened the drawer, they heard a cry and saw the "dead" infant stretch.

"My baby was born at 10.24am and at 11.05am was already in the drawer. She spent 12 hours in the freezing cold of that morgue. I saw for myself the ice on her body... At first the doctors said that she was born dead, then said she had died shortly after birth because she was too small to survive. I don't know who is to blame, and I'm not thinking about it at this moment. The joy of knowing she's alive is covering every other feeling. I'm a Christian, and I believe this was a miracle of God."

Hospital director Jose Luis Meirino has no explanation, saying the baby was attended by obstetricians, gynecologists and a neonatoligist, who all pronounced the girl stillborn. The hospital has suspended the medical staff involved in the birth pending the results of an investigation.

The baby was rushed to Neo-Natal Intensive Care, and according to her mother, is "getting stronger by the minute."

The parents, who initially intended to name the baby "Luciana Abigail," will now baptize her "Luz Milagros" (Miracle of Light).

A miracle indeed.
