French Vivendi is holding it's Annual Shareholders’ meeting: www.media-server.com . . .
The company has a Trailing P/E" of 5.85 and is the worst performing stock on France’s benchmark CAC 40 Index (CAC) this year.
Vivendi SA (VIV) Chief Executive Officer Jean-Bernard Levy will come under increased pressure from investors to tackle the company’s low valuation relative to its businesses with the stock trading near a nine-year low.
As Levy addresses the annual shareholder meeting today, he faces calls to review assets and reconsider the company’s structure. While he cleaned up predecessor Jean-Marie Messier’s acquisition binge and added Brazilian phone company GVT and video-game maker Activision Blizzard Inc. (ATVI) to boost growth, Vivendi’s shares and net debt are little changed from when he took over in August 2002. Vivendi is the worst performing stock on France’s benchmark CAC 40 Index (CAC) this year.
“There is a lack of visibility in what Vivendi’s strategy is exactly,” said Regis Lefort
Vivendi, based in Paris, has fallen 25 percent this year through yesterday, while the CAC was up 2.6 percent. The stock is down about 60 percent from its peak of 32.38 euros in May 2007 over Levy’s 9 1/2 years as CEO.
Its market capitalization of 15.9 billion euros is less than the 18 billion euros valuation for SFR alone, based on the price Vivendi paid for Vodafone’s 44 percent stake. The transaction was completed in June.
The owner of Universal Music Group and the Canal Plus pay- TV operator will continue to be worth less than the sum of its businesses because of its conglomerate structure, analysts say.
Barclays Capital’s Julien Roch assumes a 10 percent discount, while analysts at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Raymond James & Associates put the discount at 15 percent. After SFR, Maroc Telecom (IAM) is the second most valuable business, with Vivendi’s 53 percent stake worth 5.9 billion euros, according to Barclays and Raymond James analysts.- Read rest here: www.bloomberg.com . . . 14 Replies to Is French Vivendi undervalued? |

Good thread EU_A,
SFR has lost suscribers to Free, but whether Free can deliver quality services or not remains to be seen.
Canal+ will save 45 M€ on its football contracts, so their costs will definitely go down. Should not lose too many suscbibers though... More people will tune in as Paris SG becomes a top 5 European club.
GVT, potential for growth as next World Cup and Olympic Games will take place in Brazil.
Activision is giving away WOW for free...
The stock is trading 12,41€ at today, with a 1€ dividend coming on May 8th, + 1 free share for every 30 held.
Bref, I already bought 1 week ago... |

If Romney wasn't busy beating the hell out of the Kenyan, he would buy it, gut it and sell the remains for a profit. |

Thanks - Blizzard let players play "World Of Warcraft" for free, but only until your hero reach level 20 (I think you can go to level 60+). It's a teaser...next month Blizzard will launch Diablo 3, I believe that will sell well, and there seems to be movies based on "World Of Warcraft" comming in cinemaes within a year...if they can get Avatar director James Cameron to do it for them, they would also do a Starcraft movie |

Blizzard is an intensely profitable company from what I've read. Millions of Wow users who pay 15 bucks a month each for years and Blizzard's only overhead is internet servers and customer support. |

Bottom-calling by EU_Army still going strong.
Stock back to 14,50€ after Jean-Bernard Levy resigned.
It has paid its 1€ dividend last month, so it's technically more like 15,50€ compared to the chart |
