You know...as hard as it might be for some of you to imagine, I am interested in FF members opinions if it is worth sitting in a shit hole theater to see, rather than in the comfort of my cave...so far...it doesn't appear so.
If I wanted to get information about the movie, including random peoples opinions I'd go to IMDB or RottenT.
I'm not...I'm asking for our colorful fuck france members review.
Will I see it, yes, I will...that wasn't the question. |

The only movie I've seen recently that was worth a fuck was True Grit. Great movie! My kids could watch it. The ast movie this komrade saw in theater was that steaming pile of remake called 'The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo' via Holley-Would. Holy cow, what happened? Talk about a dumbed down version of something looking to sell TEErent the midget Rezner products... Anyhow, I'll hafta to poach a copy of Prometheus and see for myself.
True Grit. Watch the original with John Wayne. It was so good that he got a well deserved Oscar. What is the point of a remake of something so good? It will never surpass or even equal the original.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? I fully expected that the Hollywood version would be inferior to the Swedish version. I was wrong. The Hollywood version is actually closer to the book than the Swedish films. It's hard to choose between them. Perhaps because Yellow Bird productions, who made the original Swedish films were also involved in the Hollywood version. Only one niggle. The Hollywood version wastes time explaining the bleeding obvious. But that is in common with all Hollywood films; they like to patronise their customers. |

Agree, the original is better.
Two things I find personally amusing about the later true grit from my view.
1) for some reason I keep thinking the Bridges one runs longer, maybe because it drags in the beginning...maybe I'm use to the TV version...I'm sure that was cut down on the run time.
2) I didn't realize that was matt damon until almost the end of the movie *lol* |

I didn't get Starship Troopers the first time I saw it because I was expecting the book. Simple as that. Also, that the whole group of us who went to see it on opening day 1997 were tripping our balls and tits off. |

Not worth going to the theater to see. It's not horrible, it's just not that inspired. What bothers me is that Ridley Scott is considering revisiting Blade Runner. I hope he changes his mind.
Download a cam version and that would be good enough. Although the inevitable Directors Cut to come later might be interesting to watch. Stuff added back in to provide more context.

I've nothing to contribute.
I've been disappointed by Hollywood for so long I stopped going to movies...WALL-E was the last I saw in a theater.
I'll get this one on DVD when it hits the $5 rack next year. |

**** WARNING******* CONTAINS SPOILERS****
I saw it as of today; here is my official 2 cents:
The Good:
-Amazing atmosphere, good use of 3-D, adds to the tension
- DOES NOT feel like Alien 1.5, doesn't even try to replicate the whole "creature loose on ship" motif
- Awesome twist on the "space jockey"
- takes place on a different planet than the events of Alien / Aliens - therefore this different breed of "bio" weapon isn't completely illogical.
- the infected crew member scenes = awesome
- Cherlize Theron > Sigourney Weaver by leaps and bounds.
- Explains Weyland Yutani's knowledge / interest in the alien species / space jockey ships
- Honestly, not all the predictable, you don't know what is going to happen next.
The Bad:
- squid alien = fail
- why are the "engineers' such dicks
- if they wanted to exterminate us, given their space faring nature, wouldn't a war of the world, lasers pew pew, scenario been more likely?
- Too many open endend thoughts; you feel like you saw half a movie
- the final "alien" type alien sucks compared to the orignal; CGI fail.
- I miss the queen and facehuggers.
The Verdict:
Predator + predator tech > Engineer losers.
Intergalactic space travel? Check.
Predators rip thing's spines and skulls out, polish them, and keep them for trophies. They don't get kiled by their own weapons. They only care about thinking about new and inventive ways to do said task.
The "doomsday" engineer bio weapons "aka aliens" are hunted by predators for sport. So much for being world destroyers.
The movie predators was very fun and highly underrated. Speaking of which, after all the pathetic musings about the origins of humanity, our creation etc, you kind of wish a predator would come out of no where and rip everyone's spin out, human and alien alike.
That said, I'm watching Prometheus 2 when it comes out. |

Look up "Starship Troopers" on wiki-p. Some dumb fuck jooo accuses Troopers of being bigoted against BUGS. Hard to believe but true. Insufferably stupid bastard.
Bottom line: See it for yourself and decide for yourself if you like it. Trusting some movie faggot's opinion is just stupid.

I went to a hockey game and a peace march broke out

I have a passive 3D Vizio system..surprisingly..the 3D works well..well for the one movie I watched in 3D that is. |

Prometheus discouraged me from seeing it with it's SCREAM-WHOOMPF-SCREAM-WHOOMPF style trailer. And the scream sounded like Marv from Home Alone. |

I spent the $19 to see it in Imax it was visually cool - an entertaining movie that turned out to be more "Independence Day" than a prequel to Alien.
The Lindelof effect was all over the place - mythology, statues. The robot character highly reminiscent of Ben from Lost.
I'd say see it for entertainment value, 3D Imax experience - but don't expect more than Independence Day meets some of Alien 1 and Lost. |

But I like Independence day...had to laugh at one of my Euro friends though...he complained that the movie was too 'American'...flag waving and shit...

addendum: if the Engineers' DNA is identical to humans then why the fuck don't they look exactly like us?
Indeed, we can expect a Promotheus reloaded, regarding of us being identical, we need to understand the real purpose of creating a lifeform like us...
he complained that the movie was too 'American'...flag waving and shit...
Admit that you guys like all that "flag waving and shit", its cultural, a form of masturbation like behavior and Hollywood is one of your propaganda tool! But no worries, you're not alone... sheeps are all over. |

Huge sci-fi nerd myself. Meandering pointless script. No tension at all, and I saw every plot turn ahead of time. Was expecting a lot more from Ridley Scott. Also a huge waste of Charlize Theron who should've been the lead character. Her character didn't make much sense and didn't work for me. Characters and motivations completely unbelievable. Check out the IMDB thread for the 1,000 things I learned from Prometheus. Hilarious: www.imdb.com . . . |
