Huge sci-fi nerd myself. Meandering pointless script. No tension at all, and I saw every plot turn ahead of time. Was expecting a lot more from Ridley Scott. Also a huge waste of Charlize Theron who should've been the lead character. Her character didn't make much sense and didn't work for me. Characters and motivations completely unbelievable. Check out the IMDB thread for the 1,000 things I learned from Prometheus. Hilarious: www.imdb.com . . .
What was everyone expecting? Fucking "War and Peace"? It's an entertaining scifi movie...At least it wasn't a miserable, boring, contrived sack of puke like the starwars prequels which had ZERO entertainment value. I couldn't even finish those. | re: Prometheus (karma: 1)

I was expecting something with the caliber of Alien or Aliens. This was an amateurish mess. I could have easily hopped into another showing on the way out of the first, but I wasn't interested.
And just because the Star Wars prequels were worthless doesn't excuse this shit sandwich. Any time a high profile expensive sci-fi movie flops or is less than stellar, it makes it that much more difficult for the next one to be made. | re: Prometheus (karma: 2)

The first one was absolutely horrid....the second and third one just sucked. But to be honest...the best of the Star Wars movies was "Empire Strikes Back"...the only one Lucas didn't direct. | |

In this movie, yes the dialogue and plot points were a tad poorly thought out at times, but the actors did a good job running with it. Their reactions etc were well done. Nothing worse than bad acting. I definetly preferred the alien / imagery of the orignal, but hey, we already saw that done.. so.. on to something new.
Speaking of the orignal, I was reading about Scott's first draft for the ending of that film.. he wanted the alien to bite ripley's head off and say the final journal entry in her voice. How creepy would that have been? Fox actually nixed it. | re: Prometheus (karma: 2)

Indeed, we can expect a Promotheus reloaded, regarding of us being identical, we need to understand the real purpose of creating a lifeform like us...
he complained that the movie was too 'American'...flag waving and shit...
Admit that you guys like all that "flag waving and shit", its cultural, a form of masturbation like behavior and Hollywood is one of your propaganda tool! But no worries, you're not alone... sheeps are all over.
Why do you have flags in Europe? Why do you wave them at faggity soccer matches? You know ever European flick I watch I find too European...it should be more American *lol*
So it was an American movie from hollyWeird, and yet you are shocked that it had American flags/culture in it.

Can they (Hollywood) at least make ONE movie where the USA joined sides with Germany in WW2 and win the war, with the USA then running the UK and with Germany ruling the rest of Europe (While Russia get every thing to the Japanese border at China)?
Maybe with an ending including the USA joining up with Canada to fight the Mezzican drug-infested country and drive them into the Amazon and extend the USA to the Panama canal.
Then Russia, Greater USA and Germanic Europe taking on the whole middle east and decimating the lot of it to get ALL the Oil and Gas as far as Pakistan. Japan onside to dominate everything from Hokkaido to India.
Australia and New Zealand would have to watch and keep their heads down.
Then I pulled my head out of the cornflakes.
But is there a market for that type of movie?
Fuck; the Jews here will put a spanner in the works. they Gots to be in the picture
How about they rule the Whole Middle East (after the muzz got wiped out); but with no major weapons permitted to them?
Fixed.

What bothers me is that Ridley Scott is considering revisiting Blade Runner
Lets hope, he stays off that brilliant idea! I was watching THX 1138 (director's cut) again the other day, a bit like Lucas, Scott is tainted now... the system caught them back, no more freedom, they've been formatted, its all about business... | re: Prometheus en>fr fr>en By Bat2 Comments: 5296, member since Wed May 25, 2011On Tue Jun 12, 2012 02:14 PM

I think a reverse Red Dawn type movie where the EUSSR, Russia, and China heroically invade and "liberate" the US, followed by a Final Solution to the Redneck Problem would do better internationally. | re: Prometheus (karma: 2)

THX 1138 was probably the best movie he ever made and I liked the Directors Cut version, unlike what he did to the original Star Wars trilogy. Blech.
Blade Runner? Scott needs to fuck off with that idea. The Final Cut that he did back in 2007 was fucking great and he should leave it at that. And no, there is no "system" that has caught them. That is crazy talk

This thread is so nerd. And none of you guys who criticize Prometheus have a real love for sci fi movies.
Really, wtf is Alex Jones doing in this thread? Is a FUCKING MOVIE for Godness sake, let's not take it THAT seriously. Alex Jones is crazy and you for listening to him. C'mon really?
Having said that and you are a bunch of nerds, I have to say that normal people like me enjoyed the movie. I thought it was pretty damn good! The technology presented in the movie was great, and contrary to stupid Alex Jones and his theories, the movie leaves it all to you. So it's up to you if you want to think they were off to kill us.
I saw it as they were experimenting with DNA and wanted to introduce other specie to the mix, and things went wrong. So wrong that the experiment killed the base.
The story is well researched, the Nephilim part, the timing, 2000 years they were killed so they stop visiting us, that was good. It's a story well developed. Nothing too seriously, it's a story.
And yet, there is some clues to say that Giants were real 2000 years ago. Was that something to do with our God, of course, what is it, we don't know, and it's stupidly freaking pretentious to think we r gonna explain the mystery of life out of a movie, for the love of God, it's a movie.
I don't know what to say about the first alien in the waterfall, I saw it as he wanted to kill himself out of frustration with the experiment go bad or maybe his kin?. Other people saw it as he was sacrificing himself into testing it. Was it Earth? What do you nerds think about it?
Ohhh and the scene in the surgery room was great. The girl and David the robot are the best ones, and the Capt, they are the ones who are carrying the movie. Charlize and the old man kinda blend.
I want to see it again!

'Meh'
It's a good looking movie, but how anyone could read the script and still approve it is beyond me.
"Bodybuilding alien drinks black goo, his body decomposes down to DNA in a matter of seconds, falls into the river, seeding the Earth with humans"
"Android studies ancient human languages allowing him to reconstitute the alien language and speak it"
"Alien planet's atmosphere is conveniently almost like Earth's down to argon because argon is important, although they can only breathe underground since above it's got 3% CO2 which would kill them (huh)"
"English punk with a Mohawk haircut be a geologist, geologists walk around doing nothing, audience will forget his name after a few minutes"
"Biologist bloke sees phallic alien creature that behaves like a cobra, tries to pet it, audience will forget his name after a few minutes"
"Good looking guy is an archaeologist like Indiana Jones, turns into the incredible hulk after being infected with black goo, audience will forget his name after a few minutes"
"Octopod baby grows into a giant octopod in a matter of hours in the absence of food, mates with bodybuilding alien, resulting in insectoid aliens of the franchise".
"Ultra high tech futuristic automated surgical unit is gender specific"
"Bodybuilding aliens want to kill humans on sight, because"
Everything will be explained in Prometheus 2

Given who the writer is.. more random questions will be raised.. then the series will end with it being revealed that are all already dead and are experiencing purgatory.
Still doesn't explain why the alien eggs were already in existence in the ship that forerunner ship crashed on LV 426. I guess one would surmise that since the "pilot" was infected in that crashed space craft that the insect alien is the combination of their DNA and it's offspring laid the eggs. | re: Prometheus (karma: 1)

NERD ALERT
At the end of Prometheus the Engineer gets seeded by the squid alien and later gives birth to the queen. Guess the guy takes off in one of the other ships that were on that planet and only made it as far as LV426.
The queen was the result of human DNA and Engineer DNA mixing.
Conclusion : Don't have sex with an alien. | re: Prometheus en>fr fr>en By Mouse Comments: 21429, member since Wed May 25, 2005On Sun Jun 17, 2012 05:45 PM

David Fincher did that film, and I love his later works. I was just watching a movie about alien 3, apparently it was a doomed shit storm because of the pressure from the suits at fox. Fincher was brought in VERY late in the project's life cycle and he did his best to save it. |
