USA ‘Imperialism’ and ‘Genocide’: The 4th of July According to MSLSD (karma: 3)

What a kunt.
When readers have finished with this story, we would be very surprised if they didn’t end up with a highly pessimistic query: Is there anything MSLSD can cover without spoiling it?
The answer, as it turns out, may be “no.” For you see, even on the 4th of July, arguably the one day when every Amerikan, regardless of party affiliation, should be celebrating, MSLSD has decided it wants to remind its viewers of just how many awful things Amerika has been responsible for. Why? Perhaps for the sake of perspective, or for the sake of encouraging liberal guilt, but quite frankly, we don‘t feel qualified to speculate on the root of an entire network’s neuroses. All we know is that while everyone else is celebrating, MSLSD is letting their resident Jeremiah Wright admirer, Melissa Harris Perry, say things like this, according to Mediaite:
In what is sure to rankle the feathers of many conservatives, MSLSD weekend host Melissa Harris-Perry took to her show Sunday to ponder the meaning of Independence Day, highlighting mostly the stains on American history. “It’s ours, all of it,” she said. “The imperialism, the genocide, the slavery, also the liberation and the hope and the deeply Amerikan belief that our best days still lie ahead of us.”
“Independence Day is more aspirational than actual,” she began her monologue. “We have longed defined the Amerikan Dream with commodities, a home of ones own, better education for the kids, family vacation and a car to the vacation in. And if we measure the dream by acquisitions, we’re in trouble. National unemployment remains above 8 percent. Wages have dropped, and the median net worth of American families plummeted by almost 40 percent.”[...]
She continued on to explain that her favorite story for this Fourth of July is one of people who are “not technically free.” She described a group of 27 inmates who recently completed their GEDs at the jail on Rikers Island. “Despite being incarcerated, they hold fast to the optimistic belief that education, hard work and second chances are still the stuff of Amerika. And that they have a right to take part in the dream.”
“So on the Fourth of July,” Harris-Perry concluded, “I’m going to think of the Rikers Island graduates, and I’m going to wave a flag without hesitation — not because I’ve forgotten my nation’s many wrongs, but because I remember them. And I am nonetheless proud of my country, not for its perfection, because the alternative is too grim, the alternative is to give up on the dream of the nation founded in the belief, if not yet the practice that all are created, all deserve freedom, and all have the right to pursue happiness. Now, that is a dream worth celebrating — with fireworks.”
www.theblaze.com . . .
Debunking Perry’s attempt to inject guilt into the national dialogue could take pages of prose, and quite frankly, we wonder if there is even a point, considering that her worldview appears to be influenced more by a quasi-religious faith in this country’s failings than by anything else. However, we are going to accept one part of her statement – that as of now, the Amerikan Dream is in danger of being more aspirational than actual. As to whose fault that recent development is, we doubt MSLSD has any interest in covering the subject. 25 Replies to ‘Imperialism’ and ‘Genocide’: The 4th of July According to MSLSD | re: ‘Imperialism’ and ‘Genocide’: The 4th of July According to MSLSD (karma: 5)

She embraces the nation's heritage in its entirety. Mindful of America's shortcomings, she nevertheless celebrates the enterprise the declaration of independence stands for. What about you? Can you only be proud of your country when you deny the slavery, the genocide and the imperialism? That would be a bit sad. | re: ‘Imperialism’ and ‘Genocide’: The 4th of July According to MSLSD en>fr fr>en By balls Comments: 28498, member since Tue Aug 24, 2004On Thu Jul 05, 2012 01:38 PM

Atles, you do realized YOU are brainwashed in being ashamed of your country, whether anyone here considers it justified or not.
Having that self loathing is not healthy, it's why europe is such a mess (importation of niggers and muzz as reparations for past sins) and America is sinking fast.
Seriously fuck the Indians, God damn savages. As for niggers? Huge upgrade for them, so they can GTFO back to Africa if things are so bad. | re: ‘Imperialism’ and ‘Genocide’: The 4th of July According to MSLSD (karma: 11)

I am currently reading Curtis LeMay's bio by Kozak. Bootstrapped all the way - hard work, more hard work and drive. Came up dirt poor white trash.
As opposed to the current crop of 'victims' that are paid handouts, cellphones, housing, EBT cards, free schools, etc.
My god how far we have fallen as a country when they broadcast this garbage to the sheep on a national cable station on Independence Day.
You know our real history is being forgotten and replaced with this bullshit - that is a major, major problem. | re: ‘Imperialism’ and ‘Genocide’: The 4th of July According to MSLSD (karma: 3)

30 years ago a story like this never ever would have been aired because of (a) the public response; and (b) even the reporters wouldn't have agreed. Now that line of thinking is a marketing plan. | re: ‘Imperialism’ and ‘Genocide’: The 4th of July According to MSLSD (karma: 3)

When I saw my older step daughter's American history textbook (and this from a private school - so you can presume same or much worse in pulbix skools) I honestly couldn't beleive it. It was a cartoon (literally) that could have come from Mother Jones and written by Chomsky (probably was).
Point is the reason this horseshit doesn't rise to ad boycott or suffer viewership penalties is that you now have a couple of generations X, Y's who see this as 'history' and the 'real history' has been so defaced and lied about this is what they default to.
Letting libtards take over the schools and universities was a major - perhaps fatal - blow to this country. | re: ‘Imperialism’ and ‘Genocide’: The 4th of July According to MSLSD (karma: 3)

Geebart, speak for yourself please. As for myself, I manage to be not ashamed of my own country without denying imperialism or genocide. And when I have finished this post I'll play a nice round of RO2 - Heroes of Stalingrad - as a German, of course.;)

Europe as well as America have immigration laws that pretty much limit immigration. We'renot importing anyone out of a bad conscience. But migratory pressure is a reality.

Let's agree to disagree just one more time.

Thanks for showing your true colors. Might is right, that's what your ideals are. What I found alsways curious about the US declaration of independence, that it was a declaration of independence which wasn't declared by the colonized but by the colonizers themselves. Alright, I'll add this to the list, we also disagree on what's "naked". Noted.
No, you and Geebert seem to celebrate ethnic cleansing. And I expressed that the perpetrators are not among my heroes list. Sure. They also dig child rape and pulling the do-not-remove tags off pillows.

There is a time and a place for everything. 4th of July is NOT the time to bring up the negatives. If human beings weren't allowed to celebrate if they had any negative things in the past, we would never celebrate at all.
Typical liberal arrogance. She thinks she needs to remind people of shit they already know. And as far as genocide and imperialism goes, we don't even compare to certain countries in Europe or Asia. | re: ‘Imperialism’ and ‘Genocide’: The 4th of July According to MSLSD en>fr fr>en By Fearless_Leader Comments: 21567, member since Thu Dec 09, 2004On Fri Jul 06, 2012 08:52 AM

Oh, C'mon. You're completely distorting now what she said. She didn't say that people aren't allowed to celebrate. In fact she stressed, that she celebrates as well, despite the bad things.
And frankly, who are you to tell her to stick to a cardboard variant for grammar school kids of remembering July 4th? She has every right to celebrate the idea of "all people created equal" and mention that this didn't keep the majority of the drafters from owning slaves.
As for me, I really can't stand it, when flag-waving nationalists celebrate how morally superior their nation supposedly is and then demand facts cherry-picking when it comes to the ugly realities where all these great ideals didn't matter one bit. And having said that, she didn't throw the kid out with the bathwater, she celbrates 4th of july as well.
