I will make a comparison to make VAVD laugh. The American Civil War tore families apart. That war was insane since the South had every right to secede legally. The vast majority of Southerners were not slave owners.

I don't feel the French have moral shortcomings any more than Americans. Society always learns the hard way. It took Vichy and the Nazis to convince the French that xenophobia is wrong.

It took the Civil War to convince Americans that slavery was wrong.
