USA Romney's last hope: the debates - book your seats here (karma: 6)

To my left, a Kenyan who believes in socialism. To my right, someone who believes the early inhabitants of America were israelites as revealed to Joseph Smith in spring 1820 in the state of New York by God the Father and Jesus Christ. Let the match begin.
.
Even Rasmussen polls are now vacillating about Romney's chances. While all others give a lead to Obama.
Last chance, the debates. Here are the dates, plus a link where you will be able to follow the debates live:
www.2012presidentialelectionnews.com . . .
Let's hope Mitt and Paul trounce Barack and Joe.
Or it's 1000 years of darkness, a US economic collapse and the end of America as we knew it.
Legal disclaimer:
this thread (and others soon to follow) can in no way be construed as being a petty revenge towards all American FF'rs who cheered for Hollande during the French presidential elections.
No way. It would be petty and not nice at all

The only way Obama gets re-elected is if a huge population of Americans ignore his monumental failure.
$4.50 a gallon for gas? $16 trillion debt? Obamacare?
Ugh, it's been an ugly 4 years. |

An ugly 4 years? I'm convinced Obama would do much worse if reelected (and looks like he might). As I said:
it would be 1000 years of darkness, a US economic collapse and the end of America as we knew it.

in the presidential debates romney had better have his facts straight because obizzle will be spouting the same tired old bullshit that his devotees fell for in 2008
the v.p. debate will simply be a slaughter |

I think Morris is right. Black voters will be at traditional levels, not the 2008 levels the pollsters are using.
That makes LAMO'S map the most accurate.
The mideast problems are going to make it really tough for the media to continue shielding Obama if they continue. |

I find it difficult to believe that any American FF'er would do such a thing. This would mean that at least one member of this site would sit back and applaud while France is driven into its worst crisis since the Black Death. Can't imagine anyone here with that attitude. |

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 48% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns 46% of the vote. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided. See daily tracking history.

WASHINGTON, DC â Former presidential candidate Rick Santorum attacked the media and "smart people" for not being on the side of conservatives in a speech to the Values Voter Summit on Saturday.
"We will never have the media on our side, ever, in this country," Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, told the audience at the Omni Shoreham hotel. "We will never have the elite, smart people on our side."
That's it. The Republicans are fucked. Chuckie was right when he talked about a new dark age. When a leading Republican politico says that Republican voter are stupid, right in their faces, and they cheer, you know that American politics is dysfunctional.
And what the hell is a "Value Voter"? Is that the Tesco version of buying elections? Pile them high and sell them cheap. |

Try. If David Cameron or any leading Tory was to address a conference of Conservative supporters and tell them that "We will never have the elite, smart people on our side." The audience wouldn't cheer. They wouldn't think it was nuanced; they'd know that by implication he was calling them stupid. He'd be history. Hell. The normal thing for politicos is tell the followers that they are the smart ones. That they support the natural party for smart people. The audience know that it is not really true, but it makes them feel good. You just don't say that all the smart people vote for the opposition. That is just plain political suicide |

Ok I'll explain.
In the U.S. the lefites and libs consider everyone except themselves to be blithering idiots. We are constantly bombarded with this thesis and playing on this idea is actually a thumb in their eyes.
The fact is that educated, smart people inhabit both sides of the aisle and indeed run right up the middle. Intelligent people recognize this simple truth but libs are typically so venomous they can't fathom the notion that there are other ideas than their own that merit consideration.
Ergo---the thumb in their collective eyes and so forth. |

Uh? Ever cared to read the posts on FF?
I got the impression US far right conservatives consider everyone except themselves to be blithering idiots.
And would not accept that educated, smart people inhabit both sides of the aisle.
Unless 'Demonrats' is an endearing terms for educated, smart people on the other side of the aisle...

Calling people "Demonrats" is primary school level. They're not too bright. The lights are on but no one is at home. Both sides have their fair share of juvenile like idiots. For instance I've heard Democrats call Republicans "Repubtards" before now. Just as childish and pathetic. And I'm not knocking the Americans here. Back in the 1980's we had very similar behaviour. Political discourse was reduced to childish name calling. The problem being that when political discussion is reduced to name calling, the quality of government plummets even further. The results of which Britain is now paying for. |

Don't worry: Romney is going to win. Ignore the polls, ignore the press, they're all biased and unreliable.
Obama has presided over a deteriorating economy, disappointed his own supporters and united the opposition against him.
Obama will lose.
Remember, my predictions are nearly always right. |

Elitist is not a jab at the educated, it's another sarcastic jab at those who believe they are better than others.
