. Texas is building it's army, air, and naval military forces with uniformed and combat equipped units NOT subject to Federal call-up or presidential command. Several other states are doing the same. ... Wonder why? :P

.
To keep the White House and Feds from getting nervous or antsy, the Texas militia is called the Texas "State" Guards, although it's pretty obvious that our "militia," not being subject to a federal call-up, nationalization, or other federal authority has the potential for other uses. Should Texans decide they've finally had enough, we will have our own army again, subject only to the commands of our Governor (or our 6th President).

Our Militia has it's roots in the same Texas Army that defeated Santa Ana, gained our independence, and guarded our Texas nation during the days of the Republic. It has not only new recruits, but trained ex-military veterans with full weaponry and uniforms, both dress, and combat. We also have our air branch with airborne drop capability, none of which are subject to the whims of the U.S. President.

Hedquarters are at Camp Mabry in Austin, where my own military records are still on file. A young paramedic friend of mine is going to Camp Mabry for militia training next week.

Should Texas citizens one day vote yes on secession, we will have our own trained and equipped militia, ground air, and sea, ready to go.

Presently we say it is primarily for M.P. and Medical duty in emergencies, but everyone knows the real purpose.

Here's a vid of some of the "medical" accoutrements, explained by an airborne veteran and militia member. :D

Texas State Guard

Commanders:

- Texas Adjutant General, Major General John F. Nichols

- Commanding General, Major General Manuel "Tony" Rodriguez

The Texas State Guard (TXSG) is one of three branches of the Texas Military Forces. Along with the other two branches, the TXSG falls under the command of the Texas governor and is administered by the adjutant general, an appointee of the governor. The other two branches of the Texas Military Forces are the Texas Army National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard.

The mission of the Texas State Guard (TXSG) is to provide mission-ready military forces to assist state and local authorities in times of state emergencies; to conduct homeland security and community service activities under the umbrella of Defense Support to Civil Authorities; and to augment the Texas Army National Guard and Texas Air National Guard as required.

Headquartered at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas, the TXSG functions as an organized state militia under the authority of Title 32 of the U.S. Code and Chapter 431 of the Texas Government Code.
