Novak cited after hitting pedestrian
By starspangled
Thu Jul 24, 2008 08:49 AM
As he traveled east on K Street, crossing 18th, Bono said "a black Corvette convertible with top closed plows into the guy. The guy is sort of splayed into the windshield.” Bono said that the pedestrian, who was crossing the street on a "Walk" signal and was in the crosswalk, rolled off the windshield and that Novak then made a right into the service lane of K Street. “This car is speeding away. What’s going through my mind is, you just can’t hit a pedestrian and drive away,” Bono said. He said he chased Novak half a block down K Street, finally caught up with him and then put his bike in front of the car to block it and called 911. Traffic immediately backed up, horns blaring, until commuters behind Novak backed up so he could pull over. :O

'Friends of Abe': Hollyweird's Conservative Underground
By PissNVinegar
Wed Jul 23, 2008 10:23 PM
A group of politically conservative and centrist Hollywood figures organized by actor Gary Sinise and others has been meeting quietly in restaurants and private homes, forming a loose-knit network of entertainers who share common beliefs like supporting U.S. troops and traditional American values. Some of those involved are taking more public steps to counter the entertainment industry's tilt toward liberalism and Democratic politics, such as campaigning for Republican Sen. John McCain or crafting projects to portray America in a more positive light. [Quietly? Isn't that a bit like Chrisians meeting for worship and prayer in the ancient Catacombs of Rome? Or like Christians in a muzz country. Meet the new McCarthyism that is integral to hiring and firing in the Hollyweird leftist-controlled system. You want to work there? Don't mention your conservative political leanings. Fucking leftist fascists! Kill em all.]

Malkin: The man who could topple 'Jihad' Jack Murtha
By PissNVinegar
Wed Jul 23, 2008 09:44 PM
[Dump that fat fuck, slandering, traitorous bucket of shit, PA!] A jaw-dropping political miracle may be on the horizon. No, I’m not talking about the second coming of the Obamessiah. I’m talking about the long-deserved comeuppance of troop-smearing, pork-feasting, scandal-tainted Democratic Rep. Jack Murtha of Pennsylvania. The 18-term congressman’s challenger, staunch conservative Republican newcomer William Russell, raised nearly $670,000 in the second fundraising quarter. Earmark king Murtha scraped together a measly $119,000. Russell’s underdog campaign bested Murtha without the perks of incumbency, national name recognition, big PAC donations or mainstream media support.

House Republicans on the Energy Offensive, Dumbs Forced Out in the Open
By PissNVinegar
Wed Jul 23, 2008 09:06 PM
For the first time in a while, House Republicans are on the offense on an issue of national importance: removing obstacles to the production of more American energy. House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey abruptly shut down his committee indefinitely rather than allow Republicans to offer an amendment to open more areas to drilling for new sources of oil and natural gas. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid concur. According to the New York Times, she and Reid “appear intent on holding the line against calls to approve drilling in areas now off limits.” Obey fears that the amendment, by drilling advocate Rep. John Peterson (R., Penn.), would win. As many as eight of the committee’s Democrats have supported similar amendments in the past, while only a couple of the committee’s Republicans (who represent well-heeled suburban districts) have stood with the environmental lobby.

By hawk7

Inspectors, contractor let in pests that could destroy US crops. Rafael Edmundo Melo Jr., 40, killed himself the day after appearing in federal court to face charges that he had allowed truckloads of vegetables and flowers infested with harmful pests to enter the United States from Mexico without proper fumigation. While the death of the veteran plant inspector brought pain and sadness to his family, the conspiracy with which he and two other U.S. Department of Agriculture inspectors were accused had the potential to cause further damage to the nation’s agricultural industry. The scheme, which went on at least three years and ended when the defendants were arrested in April, could have decimated dozens of Texas agricultural industries, government and industry officials say. Some experts believe the effects of the tainted shipments could still harm crops. Praise NAFTA and our Government's sick OBSESSION to prop up the sick old man of the Americas

Senate Vote on More Money for U.N.
By hawk7
Wed Jul 23, 2008 05:51 PM
Having failed to stop the irresponsible $50 billion global AIDS bill, Senate conservatives are now being given a second chance. Can they stand up to Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid and block the so-called Coburn Omnibus of more irresponsible spending? Reid jokingly named the bill after the Oklahoma Republican Senator, Tom Coburn, who has prevented dozens of excessive federal spending bills from passing the Senate. But Reid is actually titling the bill “Advancing America’s Priorities.” The 398-page bill, which Reid hopes to bring up this week, is an amalgam of 36 different pieces of legislation, including $12 million for a federal greenhouse facility in Maryland and $24 million for the United Nations. Coburn put “holds” on the bills to prevent them from being passed quickly without adequate debate Early estimates put the cost of the entire package at over $11 billion. Through Senate passage of the “Torture Victims Relief Reauthorization” (H.R. 1678), which is one of the bills, Reid hopes to funnel $24 million to the so-called United Nations Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture for the operation of foreign treatment centers in such places as the “occupied Palestinian Territories,” Lebanon and Russia. Some of the U.N. money underwrites the Mandela Institute, which features a “Free Palestine” map on the home page of its website and provides assistance to alleged victims of Israeli aggression and torture. The greenhouse facility (H.R. 5492) is for the care and feeding of orchids. This Bill should be named : The 3rd world shit hole bail out bill.

Obama Ignorance/lying Watch
By hawk7
Wed Jul 23, 2008 05:28 PM
As you know, Barack Obama is still trotting across the globe, sinking three pointers, ignoring military counsel and healing the occasional leper. Amidst all the hullabaloo, these Obama comments regarding Israel and terrorism have been sadly overlooked:
“Um, let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s.”
Umm. Hmm Hah! Truly eloquent, and still more evidence of what Marc Ambinder refers to as Obama’s “talented, incredible gift of a mind.” But that comment hasn’t been overlooked, and really isn’t important. But these comments have been overlooked and are a lot more important than the typical Obama gaffe:
“What I think can change is the ability of the United States government and a United States president to be actively engaged with the peace process and to be concerned and to recognize the legitimate difficulties that the Palestinian people are experiencing right now and recognize that it is not only in the interest of the Palestinian people that their situation improves. Umm. Hmm- I believe that it is in the interest of the Israeli people…That’s why terrorism is so counterproductive as well as being immoral because it makes I believe the Israelis want to dig in and simply think about their own security regardless of what’s going on beyond their borders.” umm. Hmm
We're so screwed with these choices given to us.

NASA Discovers 70% Of Global Climate Due To Pacific Ocean Oscillations - Not CO2
By jukinj3
Wed Jul 23, 2008 03:50 PM
Well, well. Congress learned something shattering today, which will have the Church of Al Gore/IPCC running in fear of their lost credibility. It has been scientifically demonstrated that 70% of the Global Warming in the last century (and cooling in the last decade) is due to the Pacific Ocean Oscillations, not CO2: One necessary result of low climate sensitivity is that the radiative forcing from greenhouse gas emissions in the last century is not nearly enough to explain the upward trend of 0.7 deg. C in the last 100 years. This raises the question of whether there are natural processes at work which have caused most of that warming. On this issue, it can be shown with a simple climate model that small cloud fluctuations assumed to occur with two modes of natural climate variability — the El Nino/La Nina phenomenon (Southern Oscillation), and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation — can explain 70% of the warming trend since 1900, as well as the nature of that trend: warming until the 1940s, no warming until the 1970s, and resumed warming since then. The gentlemen making this claim is the lead investigator one of NASA’s flagship Earth Observing Observatories (H/T Ice Cap). I have the honor of working on this mission on the periphery (Aqua), it is operated out of the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.
My bet is the other 30% is due to sunspots. HERETIC, BURN HIM AT THE STAKE OF AGW!!! Algore was unavailable for comment.

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS CAUGHT WITH MISTRESS AND LOVE CHILD!
By jukinj3
Wed Jul 23, 2008 01:43 PM
Vice Presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards was caught visiting his mistress and secret love child at 2:40 this morning in a Los Angeles hotel by the NATIONAL ENQUIRER. The married ex-senator from North Carolina - whose wife Elizabeth continues to battle cancer -- met with his mistress, blonde divorcée Rielle Hunter, at the Beverly Hilton on Monday night, July 21 - and the NATIONAL ENQUIRER was there! He didn't leave until early the next morning. Rielle had driven to Los Angeles from Santa Barbara with a male friend for the rendezvous with Edwards. The former senator attended a press event Monday afternoon with L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on the topic of how to combat homelessness. But a months-long NATIONAL ENQUIRER investigation had yielded information that Rielle and Edwards, 54, had arranged to secretly meet afterward and for the ex-senator to spend some time with both his mistress and the love child who he refuses to publicly acknowledge as his own.
I know it is the Enquirer but they also brought down Gary Hart with the truth. Another reason I tend to believe this is true (even though Edwards is a democrat lawyer politician liar but I repeat myself, myself, myself), is this:
Shocked to see a reporter, and without saying anything, Edwards ran up the stairs leading from the hotel basement to the lobby. But, spotting a photographer, he doubled back into the basement. As he emerged from the stairwell, reporter Butterfield questioned him about his hookup with Rielle. Edwards did not answer and then ran into a nearby restroom. He stayed inside for about 15 minutes, refusing to answer questions from the NATIONAL ENQUIRER about what he was doing in the hotel. A group of hotel security men eventually escorted him from the men's room, while preventing the NATIONAL ENQUIRER reporters from following him out of the hotel.
Sounds like he is innocent to me.

By PissNVinegar

In one of those front-page editorials disguised as “news” stories, the New York Times blames “the lucrative lending practices” of banks and other financial institutions for helping create the current financial crisis of millions of borrowers and of the financial system in general. It must take either a willful determination to believe whatever they want to believe or a cynical desire to propagandize their readers for the New York Times to call “lucrative” the lending practices that have caused many lenders to lose millions of dollars, some to lose billions and some to go bankrupt.

What Is Our Govmnt. Hiding In The Ramos and Compean Case?'
By hawk7
Tue Jul 22, 2008 08:37 PM
The government watchdog group known as Judicial Watch recently filed a lawsuit against the U.S. State Department, for that agency’s failure to turn over certain documents related to the prosecution of Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean. The suit comes after the government refused to comply with a Freedom of Information Act request for documents which detailed the agreement made between the governments of Mexico and the United States, which allowed drug smuggler Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila to return to this country to actually testify against Ramos and Compean. The FOIA request was filed by Judicial Watch on April 17, 2008. The government failed to respond within their own guidelines of 20 days, nor have they since. The drug smuggler (Aldrete-Davila) was given immunity from prosecution, free medical care at a U.S. Army hospital, as well as free access back and forth across the U.S.-Mexican border. During this time, he used that access to bring at least one more load of drugs across the border. It has been over 550 days since Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean entered federal prison for their attempt to apprehend a Mexican drug smuggler. Agents Ramos and Compean are serving 11 and 12 year sentences respectively.

Why Can't McCain Court Reagan Democrats Instead Of La Raza?
By hawk7
Tue Jul 22, 2008 08:16 PM
By Patrick J. Buchanan "You go hunting where the ducks are," said Barry Goldwater. The successor to Barry's Senate seat apparently believes that ducks come from Mexico and speak Spanish. For in July alone, John McCain made three separate appearances before Hispanic groups. Last week, he spoke to La Raza (The Race), where rival Barack Obama said, "The Latino community holds the election in its hands." McCain would appear to agree. But are he and the GOP letting go of the bird in the hand to grab two in the bush, which may not even be there? Consider. Though Hispanics are 14.5 percent of the U.S. population, they will likely constitute only 7 percent to 8 percent of the electorate in 2008. My answer to Mr. Buchanan is: He doesn't want to win. He's the fall guy.

“But,” asked Moran,”if the country had pursued your policy of withdrawing in the face of this horrific violence, what do you think Iraq would look like now?” Obama said it would be hard to speculate. “The Sunnis might have made the same decisions at that time. The Shii’as might have made some similar decisions based on political calculation. There was ethnic cleansing in Baghdad that actually took the violence level down,” he said.
Will he get new ideas from such a case for his regime?

Here in Las Vegas, according to this year's Las Vegas Perspective, the Hispanic population is at 26-percent. But that number is growing every day. It's a natural increase because it's now births that are accounting for most of the nation's Hispanic population, not immigration.

Only 1 reporter present for McCain arrival
By hawk7
Tue Jul 22, 2008 07:46 PM
The senator's low-key arrival in Manchester stood in stark contrast to his Democratic rival's ongoing visit to the Middle East. Sen. Barack Obama, of Illinois, was swarmed by media as he arrived in Baghdad yesterday for a meeting with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and other Iraqi leaders. It was the second leg of Obama's excursion, following a visit to Afghanistan over the weekend. McCain spent most of the day in Maine, where he joined former President George H.W. Bush in Kennebunkport and later campaigned in Portland with the state's two Republican senators. That's why the media wanted McLame to get the GOP nomination because he's weak and an insignificant push over. Next time we nominate another candidate let's make sure he's not a ''media darling''

A wag once famously observed that, "Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it." The same has generally been true about gas prices. At least until this week. The hosing of American consumers (hilariously satirized in a new video by Hollywood icons David and Jerry Zucker at NozzleRage.com) and the attendant destruction of our economy has finally gotten the attention of the political elite in Washington and especially the Congress. Legislators are palpably in a panic at the prospect of facing voters in a few months having done nothing meaningful to bring down prices at the pump.

A Strategy For McCain: Hillary Clinton — only more so.
By Crusader
Mon Jul 21, 2008 09:56 PM
McCain would be most comfortable running in accord with his particular notions of political virtue while emphasizing character, national security, and a few pet causes such as earmarks. If he wants to win, he has to leave his comfort zone. He should take a page from Hillary Clinton. She did not, of course, defeat Obama, but she road-tested a strategy that cost him support among crucial constituencies — and that strategy is even better suited to McCain’s general-election run than it was to her primary campaign.

A Top Obama Fund-Raiser Had Ties to Failed Bank
By hawk7
Mon Jul 21, 2008 02:14 PM
For the Pritzker family of Chicago, the 2001 collapse of subprime-mortgage lender Superior Bank was an embarrassing failure in a corner of their giant business empire. Billionaire Penny Pritzker helped run Hinsdale, Ill.-based Superior, overseeing her family's 50% ownership stake. She now serves as Barack Obama's national campaign-finance chairwoman, which means her banking past could prove to be an embarrassment to her -- and perhaps to the campaign. Superior was seized in 2001 and later closed by federal regulators. Government investigators and consumer advocates have contended that Superior engaged in unsound financial activities and predatory lending practices. Ms. Pritzker, a longtime friend and supporter of Sen. Obama, served for a time as Superior's chairman, and later sat on the board of its holding company. Sen. Obama has long criticized predatory subprime mortgage lenders and urged strong actions against them.
